Angels and Demons: 6.5/10 GI JOE: The Rise of Cobra: 2/10 I was a huge fan of the toys, cartoons and cartoon movies...but this was just plain awful...and I watched it with zero expectations. The guy who played Duke was far and away the worst actor I have ever seen (beating out the statue who played Anakin Skywalker in the star wars movies). And Dennis Quaid...I hope they payed you a lot of money for such an awful role
Watched "Bronson" the other day. 7/10 Embedding disabled, but here's the trailer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKC-FKGMeCY Not as good as I expected, but not a bad film. The art direction is stunning, it's a beautiful film. After about the first quater of the movie, it begins to lose steam though. If you like Clockwork Orange, it's a good rental.
La Vie En Rose 10/10. Amazing (more or less) true story, well done movie, and the acting is just phenomenal. Knocked Up 9/10. I admit I have not seen this, thinking it was going to be a little too stupid and/or juvenile for my tastes. What a surprise. Really good movie. Funny, yet serious at the right times. Well done. Big Trouble 8/10. Holy cow it's unfortunate that this movie was delayed due to 9-11 (although it's understandable). Freeking hilarious story. Highly recommended if you like zany comedy based on mutliple converging story lines and a plethora of eccentric personalities.
Terminator Salvation. 6 out of 10. It could have been a good movie before it went all stupid at the end. The young Arnold Terminator was an awesome surprise, however.
I gotta disagree with you on this one. I think it was actually one of their better films. Dealing with the issues that arise when losing someone you love creates a void in your life is pretty brave for a cartoon. I think they pulled it off quite well.
Melody's smile aka Room of death, original french title is La chambre des morts (2007) Easy to watch thriller that has a 80s throwback feel to it. It was surprisingly good. 7.5/10
P.S. I Love You I am a sucker for a good romance or romantic comedy. So I thought we'd give this one a try. There is a great story and idea in there but ultimately if fails in execution. Often scenes drag on much too long (the opening scene is the best example) and I really didn't become invested in the characters. Seems like there was some talent wasted here as well. Return to Me is a much better example of a film dealing with overcoming loss. 5/10
Princess and the Frog - B. I liked it, my daughter loved it, and since we went to the world premiere dealio at the Ziegfield in NYC, my daughter got to party with all the Disney Princesses afterwards at the Rosemont Theater. Disney has a serious racket going on with these princesses....its costing me $$
Ya I agree, the movie was a bit too lengthy, I felt it was dragging on towards the end... Brothers - 7.5/10 Good movie with some good dramatic moments.
The Princess and The Frog - I give it an A. Maybe a 8.9 out of 10. Lassiter will be the savior of Disney Animation Studios. Good story. Good music. Respectfully done. My kids loved it... I did, too.
The Shawshank Redemption - Yes, I'm WAY behind the times. Somehow never managed to see this movie before. Great movie. I would've rated it a 10 except for the ending. I thought the beach was VERY cheesy and took away from the film. I read that the studio insisted on it but the director didn't want it. 8/10
Bruno was a cluster****. No score. Only had a couple of laughs. Turrible. New Moon 6/10 - I wasn't too into in this movie for some reason. Kirsten Stewart needs to work on her acting. I feel it's one sided. The books are way better. I didn't mind seeing Taylor half-naked. Hopefully, Eclipse will be better. Ugly Truth 8/10 - I liked this movie. Eric Winter is sooooo hot.
Secretary - 9/10 Great acting, good script, good direction. I thought the movie was entertaining enough and brings a different side of the conversation on S/M. The only bad point was JV deciding it was a bit too disturbing, that detracts a bit.
