Gran Torino (9/10) Loved the film. Loved the characters. Nice emotional rollercoaster.

Sunshine Cleaning (6/10) Never connected with the characters, but it was an OK film; it didn't help that I dislike the main actress. (Amy Adams... her whiny character from the Julia film put her in my black book) Alan Arkin has played his character before, but he's good at it, and I like the role.

Fast and Furious (5/10) Cars, chase scenes, and girls in skimpy outfits. If you liked the first couple films, you'll like this one. If you didn't, don't bother renting. (I confess I liked the first of the series, but I've disliked the rest.)

Twilight (3/10 or 8/10 for comedy) Hilariously bad. The look from these actor's///lines they give are comedy gold. My wife and I busted out laughing throughout the first half of the film. Second half we ended up bored and went full Mystery Science Theater. I'd like to meet the author and have her admit that the whole series is a giant practical joke on the teen///vampire subculture.

I felt the same way about that movie. But, I think you meant "on my black list", not "in my black book". There's a bit of a difference :D

My wifes coworker let her borrow this a few weeks ago, have been putting off watching it but get the feeling it'd be a good flix to get nice and loaded too and laugh at throughout.

No this isn't the Johnny Depp film. This is like Ong Bak with a female lead. Only this is better imo. A lot more fighting scenes. It's downright brutal and it's got excellent choreography. Story is what you'd expect, but you're not watching it for that.

    Hellboy 2: The Golden Army

    6.5/10

Could've used more character development, a bit more involvement in the story, and the whole Hellboy/Liz dynamic was all but... at times it felt rather forced and halfhearted, which just doesn't add up for the "you over the world" romance the writer would've had us believe they had..

Despite that, the entertainment value of this series continues to prove it's worth.. and the draw of the precise, subtle, at times quirky, and often quotable humor with the overall curiousness of the lead character has yet to lose it's novelty..

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Great family film. Animation is not Pixar level, but still good. Characters are easily likable, story is entertaining and the humor...I think it thrives on subtlety. You're not gonna find a lot of toilet humor or pop culture jabs. I was laughing throughout the movie. There's a lot for adults to like, but plenty to keep the kids glued too...a lot like Incredibles.

    And it has Mr. T!

Pandorum - 7/10 - Like Surrogates, it's pretty straight-forward and formulaic, but has a couple extra twists.

Bill Cosby - Himself. Holy crap, old school Cosby stand-up is just amazingly funny. Still relevant after all these years too. 10/10.

Zombieland (70%) - Maybe my expectations were too high...maybe it felt too short...or maybe I just didn't really like it all that much. I still haven't decided yet, but I'm leaning toward option #3. It was fun (and funny) in certain parts, but they were too few and far between, in my opinion.

Monsters vs. Aliens (60%) - Meh...the animation was fine, but a lot of the jokes fell flat and the story lacked that special "something" we've all grown accustomed to in the superior Pixar movies. With Monsters vs. Aliens I found myself wanting it to be over, and that's never a good sign.

    The Descent

    -----

    Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang

Had heard good things about this movie, and I finally made myself watch it. Was not disappointed at all. The story I could care less about, the murder mystery that is...because this thing is character driven. Robert Downy Jr and Val Kilmer have great chemistry together; I wish there could have been more scenes with them. And I like that it's a hard R, you don't get much of that nowadays. Would love to see more films with these characters, although I doubt it will happen.

Watched The Truman Show the other night. It's older, but still interesting. I'm not a big Jim Carrey fan, but I like him in this one.

About the same for me. Very good acting from the leads. Even Kristen Stewart did a fine job.

Saw Wristcutters: A love story on cable last night. This movie totally caught me by surprise. Solid performances and a very interesting and unique story. I give it a solid 8/10.
