transfromers 2 - 6.5/10. Robots always entertaining but i wish they could have saved me a half hour and cut down on the slow-mo running scenes. Defiance - 8/10. All around good. Watchmen - 4/10. So much potential and so poorly executed. I will never get those 2.5 hours back
G.I. Joe - 3.5/10 - It's not a good movie, but it's okay for dumbed down fun. The action is fun, with a couple of good action sequences. The plot and even the concept is awful, though.
In the past couple of weeks I've seen... The Ugly Truth (60%) Katherine Heigl looked as good as ever, but that wasn't enough to warrant a viewing. There were a few genuinely comical parts, but otherwise I felt the movie dragged along significantly. Alive (75%) Interesting story to be sure, but some of the terrible acting really weighed the movie down. I guess when there's a cast of about 15+ "main" characters, the talent can wear a little thin. The Collector (70%) I had to choose between this and G.I. Joe, and I chose this...without even knowing what it was (says something about G.I. Joe, doesn't it?). So, I hadn't read a synopsis, seen a preview, or even been told who was in this, so my expectations were as neutral as they come. In the end I thought it was well done, although nothing groundbreaking in the least. In fact, it was basically SAW as presented by Rube Goldberg...and I was fine with that. Presumed Innocent (82%) More than 3/4 of the way through the movie I had already pegged it as a "solid" crime and punishment drama. Nothing more, nothing less. But I soon realized that this movie must be judged in its entirety. The closing scenes are highly valuable and really make the movie... Flatliners (68%) Strong concept, incredible cast for the time of release, and all around solid performances. But there was something that left me feeling flat (lol?). It just didn't keep me engrossed like I thought it would, which was fairly disappointing. A Clockwork Orange (78%) I had tried to watch this "masterpiece" on a couple of occasions, and only managed to get about 20 or 30 minutes into it each time. I would find myself uninterested and then I'd find something better to do. But this time I forced myself to finish it, and I was actually pleased with what I saw. The first 1/4 of the film is really "out there", but after that point, things start to settle down and a plot actually begins to formulate. I still wasn't amazed by it, and will probably never watch it again, but it was a solid movie and I can at least see why some regard it as highly as they do. It definitely receives high marks for originality.
Quarantine 8/10 - For some reason, movies like this always creeps me out. The shaking of camera sure didn't help!! Extra points for the eye candy, Jay Hernandez The Haunting in Connecticut 6/10 - Eh, this was okay. I have a hard time believing that this was a true story. He's Just Not That Into You 8/10 - I actually liked this movie despite bad reviews. Gennifer Goodwin was too cute in this movie. I love Justin Long!! He's one of those dorky guys that I could see myself being attracted to. Gran Torino 10/10 - Oh man, this movie was AWESOME. Loved everything in this movie. Clint Eastwood is BRILLANT. Hope he has many years in him, considering that he's 79 something. Righteous Kill 7/10 - This was an alright movie...I thought DeNiro tried too hard in this movie.
Mean Frank and Crazy Tony - (1972) Simply a great movie, and one that will leave you wondering how a film like this could be so easily overlooked. It's an italian crime drama, with some comic elements to it. Lee Van Cleef plays the part of Mean Frank in a cold, badass style. 4/5
Perfect Getaway was weak. I'd give it a 3, only the last 20 minutes are actually worth watching, that's why I gave it such a high grade.
Knowing - 6/10 - I can see reality stuff happening, but not the ending that seems like would "save" stuff. No spoilers here, rent it if only if there's nothing else to do and you have one extra dollar lying around to spend on RedBox, only. Taken - 8/10 - I still can't see Liam Neeson as an "action hero" but the storyline and acting were awesome. I kept wanting to see the girl's mother just kneel and apologize through the entire movie. Good movie. Seven Pounds - 9/10 - I got tired of Will Smith's face looking the same in every line he threw about helping someone, but it was entertaining and the acting were superb.
Hurt Locker 9.5/10 there was much about this movie I didnt love at all Love Aaj Kal (Hindi) --7/10 the duel love stories werent that bad at all but there were some plot issues that I had that really detracted me from the movie.
Terminator <strike>Forever</strike> Salvation ruined by <strike>Joel Schumacher</strike> McG. There was so much that was wrong. I though Worthington & Bale were miscast. Maybe if they had swapped roles/characters with each other it would've worked. That is, Worthington as John Connor and Bale as Marcus Wright. A little better than T3 but still killing the franchise. 5/10.
Finally found it on VHS- up.the.creek. 10.out.of.10 <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FGyXqqCVfew&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FGyXqqCVfew&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7Fawen73ep0&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7Fawen73ep0&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
The Fifth Element - a very strange movie, lol. An interesting mix of sci-fi, drama, comedy, and romance. 7/10
Sukiyaki Western Django... Definitely not a movie for everyone. And the dialogue, even though it was in English, was incredibly hard to understand. But it had some nice action, some fairly good comedic elements, and a nice visual style. Somewhere in that weird mess is a pretty good Spaghetti Western. 6/10
I've never seen such bad acting in a movie in my entire life.. It was like watching a train wreck unravel in slow motion...
Watched a hindi movie called "Kaminey" it was a fantastic Quentin Tarantino-esque gangster flick.. 8.5/10 for wonderful direction, acting and music People who understand hindi can check it out.
The Goods gets 2 thumbs way down! The best part was when Will Ferrell fell out of a plane to his death with dildos surrounding him.
hmm maybe i'll go check it out its playing at a theater nearby saw district 9 a solid 8.5/10 saw Ponyo last night I would give it a solid 7.5/10 its a typical Miyazaki type film there was some things I had a bit of an issue with some things with but overall it was a fun watch and good
