I rewatched Don't be a menace to South Central. This is the funniest Wayan Bros movies before white chicks. Loc Dog to me was very inspirational when I was growing up. Still brought all the laughs. Just turned it off cause my kids got home from school. I hope Stright outta Compton is as good as this one
We watched People Places Things, Jermaine Clement's latest independent film, at the Drafthouse on S. Lamar a couple of days ago and loved it. Anyone who has an interest in the graphic arts will flip over this flick. It's hard to describe, so I won't try, but if it's showing anywhere in your area, go see it. 8/10
Into The Woods - 4/10 Wife wanted to watch it so I gave it a shot. I guess they thought Streep would carry that movie. Big Anna Kendrick fan, but that cast was week. Especially the male roles. Couldn't get into it, and was praying for it to finish.
Started to watch all the classic movies I've never seen before. I'm 21 so don't make fun of me for never watching these awesome movies. Pulp Fiction - 10/10: Probably one of the most creative movies ever, Cast was beyond amazing. Also aged well. Just amazing can't wait to watch again! The Shawshank Redemption - 10/10: Considered by many as the all time greatest movie for a reason. Fight Club - 9.5/10 - Can't talk about it. Sorry I'm watching Se7en right now.
Great movies from the 90's, good for you dude. You have to check out The Godfather and The Godfather II. Believe it or not, they're both higher up on the greatness scale than these four you've listed. Unforgiven is also a fantastic movie from the 90's.
I'll check it out. Se7en - 9/10 very suspenseful, kept at the edge of my seat especially at the end The Departed - 10/10 if you haven't seen it yet just do it
You should watch the hong kong version it was based on... infernal affairs(a play on internal afairs?). I agree... City of god is a must see.
A most violent year - 8/10 A solid movie but given the title and the comparisons to God father and Oscar Isaac being like a young Al pacino, I was expecting more of a gangster flick. There really isn't much violence or action in this movie and it's not really a gangster movie. There is good drama and good story, some tense moments but it's really about a business man trying to stay on a straight path to success and not getting mixed up in scandals. Great performance by Oscar Isaac, I never really heard of him until Star Wars Casting and now I want to watch more of his films.
Isn't that scene amazing? There's so much going on. It's where he tells he dumb noob that he built that woman, because he clearly programmed her dance moves.
Just saw this over the weekend and was surprised by how good it was. Def 9/10. *Thought I was renting Lucy though with Scar Jo.
Finally got to see Ant Man. It was a solid 9/10. While I am somewhat of a real stickler for the original Marvel Universe characters, I really liked the director's take on the Hank Pym character story and Paul Rudd was fantastic.
Northern Soul 8.5/10 Really good time period flick involving the club scene in industrial northern England in the 70s. Great little flick, would have been higher but the ending left a little to be desired. <iframe width="854" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3jJ2TVb8WSA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Trainwreck 6.5/10 There were some definite laughs. Amy Schumer's writing did it for me. Judd Apatow I was disappointed in. Antman 6/10 Enjoyable enough, the only real interest I had in the movie is how they plan to involve this storyline into the future Marvel movie universe.
I'm 20 and in the same boat as you when it comes to watching movies from the 80's and 90's. I just watched The Usual Suspects and if you liked Pulp Fiction, check out Reservoir Dogs and True Romance.
Turbo Kid 7.5/10 Laurence Leboeuf was exceptional in her role as Apple. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/AFlZ6pVtnv0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
