Man I have been trying to tell this to my friends for years but they won't listen. All they focus on is how dumb they thought the ending was. I loved it.
Rush Incredible race scenes and a nice buildup of tension over the course of the film. The slow scenes felt a little flat at times, but the racing action more than made up for it. 7.5/10
He plays that ice cold guy or the melancholic guy pretty well but does not strike me as very charismatic tho.
Glossing over my impression of him from those two movies is he also can pull off humor and will probably develop that over time.
Comet - 9/10 - This is one of those movies you either cannot stand the main character (Justin Long) or you love him. I loved him, because he's very cynical about anything and questions everything. This leads to many thought provoking scenes where he gets into discussions with his female co-star. The mystery and confusion makes it very interesting, because you can interpret is as you like and make of this parallel universe movie what you will. It's not your typical parallel universe either, so very fresh as well. A must see! Spy - 8.5/10 - One of the few comedies lately that had me laughing my ass off! I just love that main character, her foul mouth and bad manners are just perfect for a movie like this. The plot is secondary but works very well and plays into the obvious hand of Melissa McCarthy. I loved the side role for Jason Statham who is the veteran who wants to do it by himself and another secret agent, who is just a filthy Italian. While both characters have been done before, they both work here. Just absurd and filthy that you just have to laugh. The plot while secondary also works well and I just love that Melissa is so rude to Rose Byrne. While I like her in a lot of roles, here she was just obnoxious and I thought her 'jokes' were unnecessary so the payback was just lovely. So in a way, it works as well. A must see! Aloha - 6/10 - It's okay, nothing special, could've been a lot better. Some funny scenes though that were new to me and I'm glad the ending wasn't the way it usually goes. MI: Rogue Nation - 8/10 - I have never followed this movie series and I think I saw one out of the whole series, but luckily that didn't matter. I liked it a lot. The humour of Simon Pegg, the fighting scenes and the twists were good enough for me to overcome the 'hate' I have for Tom Cruise. Entourage - 1/10 - Is this a movie, seriously? Just throw some actors together, let them make a movie in a movie and struggle..horrible plot with horrible acting. Hot Pursuit - 0/10 - Offensive how bad this is, turned it off. Child 44 - 9/10 - Very good movie! The best part is the suspense and so happy the man did not get caught up in the nonsense with his female counterpart. Great acting all around and you get really emotionally caught up in it. Little Boy - 8/10 - Now this is one of the most interesting, out of the box and fresh approach to story telling in a movie I've seen recently. A great mix of drama of humour that is very hard to do, but somehow they pulled it off. There is serious issues about Japanese being discriminated against, yet because of this little boy, you can accept the humour and magic. Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 - 2/10 - The first one was okay, but this is was a bad idea from the start. A lot of comedies nowadays are just lazy, it's the Adam Sandler effect I guess. Of course you have a laugh here and there, but that's about it. The acting and jokes are 90% cringe worthy. Dark Places - 4/10 - Unfortunately it's based on a book and they couldn't really change the ending, because it just flat out ruins the movie. It could've gone a lot of ways and it went with the simplest and dumbest conclusion. There are also way too many WTF, why would you do that and not.... moments that it came across as a big cluster****. The script and producer made some interesting choices and not sure if it's their or the actors' fault, but the main characters were just not believable. The whole satanism part did also not work for me because of the constant back and forth and no sense of the time period was conveyed properly. I guess they did get the title right, because it is dark and the movie is all over the place
Mad Max Fury Road - 9/10 - Finally got a chance to see what the hype was all about. Definitely lived up to it. My entire family loved it.
Don Jon This wasn't quite the movie I thought it'd be from the trailers. Sure it was raunchy, but what started as a sex comedy turned out to be something quite a bit deeper emotionally. So good job on the previews not giving everything away. 7/10
Ex machina 8.5/10 - movie contains a lot of petite women with pubes Mission Impossible Rogue Nation 8/10 - great action flick with some comedy. Awesome action scenes like always. Female lead is also pretty hot
The Man From U.N.C.L.E. 8/10 I actually really enjoyed this movie. It was refreshing to see a 'hi-tech spy thriller' based in the early 60's. I never watched the tv show, so I can't speak to whether or not it was faithful to the source material, but I enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed Ritchie's versions of Sherlock Holmes, which is saying a lot, because I really like those a lot. All the performers chewed up their scenes with relish, the time period was presented well (with a few glaring exceptions), and Cavill, Hammer and Vikander created a really fun chemistry. And the villains were quite villainous, again a throwback to early Bond, as a comparison. I got a kick out of the really old Euro cars in the car chases (such as what has been seen already in the previews), but I do dock a bit because of the glaring use of very modern vehicles at the end, but that's really just nit-picking. All in all, a very fun flick, and I hope it does well enough that they make more. Recommended!
