The Maze Runner - 5/10 Something about the dude's face is annoying. He looks like if Kevin Bacon and a pretty lady had an offspring.
The Interview - 5/10 It was OK. There were a few funny parts, but nothing that would warrant a second watching.
there's something about james franco thats off. I don't mean the character he plays but him in real life. I can't place it... its sort of like that black guy in dexter with the same feeling.
watched "The Guest" because of the recommendations. Fun movie! 7.9/10 but dammit did he know the brother or not?
The Immigrant- 5/10 Not sure what all the buzz was about this film. Was kind of average. All the characters were somewhat annoying.
The Imitation Game 8.5/10 Absolutely brilliant. Cumberbatch deserves an Oscar nomination. Hell, he deserves to win after a performance like the one he uncorked here. My significant other was in tears by the time the flick ended. Go see it, folks!
Yeah, I get that the ending was supposed to be a twist, but I didn't really care much by that point. I think most felt the same. The whole "wait 2-3 years for the next movie to find out what it's all about" thing is getting old. Especially since the first wasn't all too convincing.
Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring 8/10 lol wayyyyyy wayyy late. gotta say i was pleasantly surprised. i'm not a big fantasy fan..and for years i thought the bits and pieces i heard about the movie sounded silly. sure enough it wasn't that bad. i enjoyed it. i'll have to get to the other two at some point.
Hunger Games - 4/10 (I liked the other ones). When will they stop stretching books to make additional movies? This movie was short, 90 minutes or so, and they probably could have cut out 30 minutes of crap. Money hungry rather than quality hungry
Grand Budapest Hotel 10/10 Another wonderful film that was slept on this year from Wes Anderson. A generational director does it again this year. Absouletely beautiful, great acting and casting with Raph Finnes, and the story that carries you throughout the film. True Masterpiece of a film making that makes you feel happy after watching it.
The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies--0/10. I wanted to lobotomize myself after watching this "epic" fail of a film. It essentially recycled tropes from the Lord of the Rings movies (e.g. Gandalf stuck on a tower) and tried to turn the Hobbit into a much darker book than it was. I'd be okay with the tone of the movie if it was anywhere close to the quality of the LOTR movies but it's not. The movie had no real charm and was full of silly looking action sequences. How many times will Legolas have a scene where he glides through the air? The humor sucked (screw Alfred). The ending sucked and made me even question Tolkien as a writer. Spoiler Why do the eagles always function as a deux ex machina? I expect Peter Jackson to write and direct another Hobbit universe film at some point. He has become worse than George Lucas, butchering someone else's source material for profit.
