In A World - 6 out of 10. A quirky movie with Lake Bell (who I have a strange hankering for) and Rob Corddry. Movie about voice-over artists (hence, the title... "In a world...").

That is not strange at all.. she's really, really hot. Went topless for a second or two in one episode of the HBO show How to Make it in America. The Mrs. really wants to watch this movie, especially now that it's streaming on Netflix. Will likely check it out tonight.

    NEIGHBORS - 6.5/10
Really funny... the physical humor is almost cartoonish at times, but the story does have a little heart. It's a pretty flimsy premise, as there's no way Rogen and Bryne would be only neighbors bothered by the frat house and the cops would never ignore the activities going on there. Putting that all aside, if you'd like to laugh and waste some time for about 90 minutes, you could do a lot worse. There were more than a few really "laugh out loud" parts. Seth Rogen can take some throwaway lines and kill me with them. He sees Zach Efron without a shirt on and remarks that he looks like "what a gay dude would build in a lab." So funny.

    EDGE OF TOMORROW - 7/10
It was almost a 9 for me. The deus-ex-machina, after-the-action ending could have just been left on the cutting room floor in my opinion. Would have made for a darker, more interesting finale. Also, the thing causing Tom Cruise's "dilemma" was just a whole lot of hokum created just to advance the plot. Now while that's true of almost any sci-fi movie, I've seen harder to believe premises explained to the viewer more organically... precisely so that it doesn't feel like a MacGuffin.

Now, take away my detractions and what's left is a near perfect sci-fi action movie. Emily Blunt is cool as hell and sufficiently bada**. Tom Cruise is better than he's been in a while. The editing is almost a character in the movie (in a good way) due to the predicament the protagonists are in. There are some throwaway roles that could've been meaningless, but the actors obviously put something into them making them worth their screen time (especially Bill Paxton!). The action was easy enough to follow and well done. Just a fun, well-done popcorn movie.

    The Judge - 7/10

It was a good film; an emotional roller coaster to say the least. It's certainly worth a watch. I'm a big Downey Jr. fan and he was great in the film.

    Philomena (2013)

    7/10

Good movie based on a true events where an Irish woman in the 50s has a child out of wedlock. She's forced to give up her son to adoption. After several decades, she decides to track him down with the help of a journalist. Heartwarming yet also sad.

"shame"=7.8/10. Just now got around to this one. It's really good but is it believable? All the main character does is surf the web for p*rn, masturbate, surf for more p*rn and check out the chicks in the subway. who can relate to that?

(that's like an ordinary monday in the hangout, brehs.)

They made a movie about that? Hell a movie about my life would win an Oscar.

    Fury - 10/10

Great movie and fantastic war scenes. Pitt was great, yet not over the top. Action packed and awesome cinematography.

That movie is legit. Main character had a jacked up sexual addiction. I thought the acting was great.. The best scene is when his boss calls him out for his dirty computer. ha ha

Million Dollar Arm - 6 out of 10. Really a sucker for true inspirational sports stories. So sorta disappointed in this one. Lead was weak, supporting cast didn't seem to pick up the slack (all good actors like Arkin, Paxton, and the yummylicious Lake Bell). The parts that touched on cultural differences and challenges worked best but it seemed they spent too much time on the lead's challenges and not enough on the two (three, counting the "coach") kids from India. My wife and daughter loved the movie... so still recommended to non-baseball fans. A better film that touches on cross-cultural challenges is Sugar.
