Been on a sci-fi craze for the last month. Pacific Rim 7.5 Great giant machines vs monsters movie that put Transformers to shame. Oblivion 6.7/10 Had its moments but felt apart after meeting the other girl and people. Lockout 7/10 Better than I thought. Guy Pearce was totally badass and great one liner. Europa Report 6.5 Was pretty disappointed. Gattaca 8.7/10 Wow. Couldn't believe I been holding back from watching this movie for years because I didn't trust some of the casts. I'm so glad I finally saw it. Just a fantastic movie with good writing, directing and acting all around. The sound track was also icing on the cake.
Pulp Fiction (9 out of 10)- Yes, I'm sinfully late but I finally caught this movie on Netflix. Hilarious memorable lines and dialogue. Truly badass. Liked the format of the storytelling as it made the pacing superb. Not a dull moment. Quentin Tarantino is the man for this one.
Pain and Gain 1/10 the gayest movie I have seen in my existence. worse then man of ****. Michael bay is a horrible.
2 Guns: 6.5/10 It wasn't bad but it wasn't the best either, well other than PaulaP, which was the best part of the movie...
He was more of a secondary character in Europa Report. He didn't get the screentime he deserved for being a bigger name. I enjoyed the movie for portraying a pioneer scientist's POV. There was suspense here and there, but probably more quiet moments where the crew is thinking or just interacting together as they journey through space. I think Bebop's rating is fair. It was a 7/10 for me.
Like what Duncan McDonuts said. He's just a secondary character. I too enjoy the scientific takes on the movie portraying the astronauts funded voyages to Europa. It was very interesting at first but it slowly went Apollo 18 on me and that was when I got totally turn off by it. The end shot/video footage should have never been made clear and should have been more of a mysterious blurry footage instead. I love this kind of movie that does this cool long voyages but I was pretty disappointed of the outcome. Still waiting for another or similar movie like this. 2001 was the only great movie had this kind of mission. Talking about this kind of movie with the long voyage theme. Just recently re-watch Sunshine(7.7/10). Such an underrated movie.
The Way Way Back: 9/10 Nothing thematically that you haven't seen before, but they did it all to perfection. A delightful, feel-good movie, and Sam Rockwell kills it with just about every line out of his mouth. A must-see, IMO.
Very much agreed! Great movie. Sam Rockwell is underrated as an actor. He's easily one of the top ones out there today. Can't think of anything of his I haven't thoroughly enjoyed.
Mud -9/10. Might be slow for some but it was really good and the kids did great...one of the better performances by McConaughey Black Rock - 6/10. Get to see the chick from The leagues boobies
^ Man, I think this is my first post here and I came in to post about Mud, too. Saw it Thursday. I was actually going to say 9/10 is a little too high because not enough special effects, I mean Reese Witherspoon. Ray McKinnon (for you SoA fans, and O Brother, Where Art Thou?) is classic and Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire) was fun. I found myself wanting more of all three. The two boys might well be competing for the two best boy roles (and performances) in movie history. McConaughey's role was well crafted and the performance solid as always. I'm sure he and his agent demanded the part or were chosen for it. With Sam Shephard, too. This is a pretty stellar cast. And the writing did them all well. I think Rotten Tomatoes 9.8 is too high, though. Except for the boy roles, the movie won't be a classic of all time in the 9.8 range, silly tomatoes. Mud - 8.5-9.0/10
Oblivion - 5.0/10 I might give it a 6.0 solely because of my new found infatuation with Andrea Riseborough, man, she really drew me in.
+1 for Mud being a good movie. I wouldn't rate it quite as high as 8.5 or 9, but I tend to rate most movies a little lower than most. Still a very solid 7-7.5 in my book. A few other movies I recently watched: Side Effects (2013) 7/10 The Great Gatsby (2013) 6/10 Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006) 6/10
Olympus Has Fallen - 5 out of 10. As long as your put your sense of reality in check, an enjoyable action film. 42 - 8 out of 10. Very good baseball film, and even SWMBO enjoyed it.
Surprised by the high ratings for Mud. I thought it looked interesting but now I'll definitely check it out.
I didn't know what to expect and was initially of the thinking, "if it's as good as everyone says, why didn't it get more run?"....well I don't know, but it is really good.
