Can't wait for it to come out on Bluray, really a movie that requires multiple viewing if you enjoyed it.
Every time I rep this movie to someone and they watch it, they say how much they hated it. I will no longer rep the movie, and people I know will probably like it now. Then they will tell me, "Hey, you should see Cloud Atlas, it's dope!"
I have friends who just hated it and others who were tepid at best. The wife and I just really loved it, been dying to watch it again since we saw it at the movies.
It was one of the most spectacular failures I have ever seen on film.. let me clarify that - when I say 'failure', I mean specifically the film-makers failed to accomplish what they wanted, which was to successfully adapt an admittedly-nearly-impossible novel into a movie. It was not a horribly bad movie as such, but the absurd constraints of the novel itself, coupled with the abysmal makeup effects utterly failing to support the decision to have the same actors playing multiple characters, genders and races, added up to a whole package that just fell almost comically flat. Not to mention, the much-overhyped 'this will change your life!' gushings from so many people beforehand, expectations were far too high for this movie. I give the W's points for trying, and the bits that work, do work, but overall, it was too disjointed, too jarring, and whatever 'message' they were trying to deliver was either lost or just never made it into the film.
I saw it last night and thought it was ok. Pretty standard action flick that was REALLY predictable. Felt like I have seen this movie 100+ times before. Plus, annoyed me that the first half of the movie was beating the audience over the head with the patriotic "USA is great" and "those other guys REALLY hate us" stuff. OK, we get it. Haha! Second half was better once it just got down to the action and stopped with all that nonsense. I'd give it a 5/10 since it wasn't a bad way to spend two hours at the theater but nothing to make me want to watch it again.
How'd you like the pledge of allegiance thing when the chick was getting dragged out? Reminded me of the scene in Red Dawn when they're about to kill a line of people and they start signing America the Beautiful or something.
I chuckled... it was kind of random and awkward for her to do that IMO. But, I had seen a reference about it online a couple of days ago, otherwise I might have said, "puuh-lease!" out loud in the theater. Haha! Just like the flag slowly falling amidst the rubble (which you see in the commercials/trailers).. like, "Come on!" Haha! I'm not trying to destroy the movie actually. It wasn't terrible. Just was waaaaay over the top and forced on the patriotic stuff and, like I said, I felt like I was beaten over the head with it. Spoiler I think it would have it better had they really killed off the president and vice-president in the helicopter (or the president sacrificed his life since he didn't have his wife any more and to protect his son and country with the code) and Morgan Freeman took over. But. that's just me
The Croods! Took my kids to see it in the 3d format. One of the best 3d animation I have seen. Def buying when it comes out.
Might see that Olympus movie morrow afternoon while kids still in school. Anyone else have something else that is better to watch?
Intouchables - 6.5-10 Someone recommended this movie to me on RedBox. It's a French film based on a true story, not bad but I didn't find it as good as it was recommended.
Two movies that I really wish I had seen years ago. TiMER: 8/10 I'm a sucker for a good chick flick and this one was very interesting. Cashback: 8.5/10 I gave this one an extra .5 for all the female nudity in it. Surprisingly with that title and all the nudity it is another love story. Highly recommended.
