that's why I mentioned PF. Anyway, I could understand someone not liking a film for that reason but I side with Tarantino and Samuel Jackson's explanation of the context in using the word for QT's movies.
Marley and Me great movie 9/10 Best movie about a dog I've seen since Benji. yeah I'm old. It will play your heart strings.
Changeling (87%) - I really enjoyed this. I'm always a little worried when a movie runs near the 2 1/2 hour mark or beyond, but this one did a great job of keeping a solid pace. Some of the behavior is so outrageous that it would normally just make me roll my eyes, but because it's a true story, it just made it all that more intriguing.
Role Models - 7.5/10 I liked this movie...it had some laugh out moments. I love Paul Rudd! That actor who plays McLovin' in Superbad is pretty cool as well.
Saw IV 5/10. It's getting a little old but I still like seeing what interesting traps they come up with in these movies. This one was a little confusing because the events at the beginning of the movie take place after the other events in the film but I like movies like that, they keep you guessing so to speak and have surprises.
OK, well thank you for your information. I have held off on Redux for now and I'll try to watch the regular version again.
Pineapple Express - 8/10 There were some laugh-out-loud moments. It exceeded my relatively low expectations (after reading some poor reviews).
Låt den rätte komma in (Let the right one in) - I've recently gotten into the whole vampire thing. I started by reading the first two (boring) Twillight books and then moved to the Southern Vampire Mysteries (super awesome) which the series True Blood is based upon. After getting pretty immersed into these stories I was pretty hooked on the whole vampire genre which I never thought I would dig. I was really interested in watching this but kind of forgot about it until it came in the mail since my wife Netflixed it. While it was not as scary as I had expected, it was a great, great story. I could see how some people may think it is a little slow for a vampire flick but the story telling was fantastic in my view. Of course it is going to be re-made here in the US and I expect it to be destroyed. FYI, it is subtitled in case you don't like to read your movies. It is also dubbed in English but I hate that. I give it a 9 out of 10.
Watched "Watchers" on late night HBO the other night. Old Dean Koontz book that I had no idea they had made into a low budget movie. Story about an intelligent retriever and a monster. 6/10: Not that good, but wasted about 2 hours while I couldn't sleep.
Being John Malkovich (78%) - Interesting, thought-provoking, and flat out weird...but not as entertaining as I'd hoped. Fido (55%) - I'll sum this up with a quote I saw from a critic..."It's a one-gag movie that starts off clever and cute, but wears thin after half an hour, and ultimately is like an excruciating Enzyte commercial for an hour and a half."
I actually watched two movies recently - surprise! 1) King Arthur 4/10. Just a goofy movie. Only saved by some rather impressive battle scenes. 2) Kingdom of Heaven 4/10. Another goofy movie. I disliked the lack of historical accuracy and orlando bloom.
Observe and Report: 3/10 Nearly unwatchable. I've come to the conclusion that Seth Rogan is terrible when he has to carry a movie by himself...he's much funnier when he's one of three or four main characters. He is not on the level of a Will Ferrell/Adam Sandler/(insert your favorite comedic actor) where it can be a mediocre script and he can make it entertaining to watch. I wish I would've seen something else.
W - 7/10 - I liked the cast but Thandie Newton tried too hard to imitate Condzella Rice. I didn't know it was her until I saw the credits. Josh Brolin has been excellent in his movies lately...I just love Elizabeth Banks!
Vertigo - I'm going to give it a B. Yeah its listed in AFI's Greatest Movies list and whatnot, mostly for the cinematography which at the time was groundbreaking, but I would rather watch Rear Window or North By Northwest before I ever watch Vertigo again. OK movie, just not a thriller. Maybe I'm just jaded, but I felt the ending was predictable. I'm sure it was shocking in the 60s. Quantum of Solace - this gets a B-. It was cool to watch, I liked the chase scenes (wait, it was ALL CHASE SCENES), and I dig Daniel Craig as 007, but the villain wasnt remotely memorable, the plot was so-so and it just seemed like a weak part 2 of a trillogy. The Bond girls were appealing, though (Strawberry Fields the redhead was yummy and Olga Kurylenko is hot as hell).
