The Illusionist - Sadly to say im not very impressed, some people claimed it to be better then The Prestige. I don't think there in the same ball park, the twist was cool but predictable. The magic was uninteresting and carried no momentum along with there being not much back story.
On a "NetFlix Instant Queue" kick... saw The Tall Man last night. 6 out of 10, stars Jessica Biel (she also was one of the producers). Very unusual film with severe twists and turns.
End of Watch- 8.5/10 - Really enjoyed this movie. Had some dark moments and kept me interested the entire time. Anna Kendrick is in here, albeit not a lead role but she is cute!
The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 - Timm's animated version of Frank Miller's graphic novel. Really impressive, Timm and his crew knocked it out of the park again, really capturing the feel of the graphic novel, can't wait for part 2 next year. A
Hotel Transylvania - was a cute movie with a predictable ending. The kids loved it quite a bit. A (kid's scale) / B- (adult scale)
If you like Anna Kendrick, she was great in an old movie called Rocket Science, a comedy about high school debate teams and a guy that stutters. The movie is uneven (as many small independent films) but she shines in her role.
Brotherhood of the Wolf - French movie with subtitles. Very original script, decent acting, pretty good fighting scenes, but the ending fell apart for me. I was looking for something more meaningful.
just saw spiderman XXX and it was better than what I expected. Wish she didn't just jump straight to the bj though. Sneak peek. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/OLOvm4o3Fxw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I was in this thread yesterday and saw a few people mention Rescue Dawn. After looking up rottentomatoes, I decided to check it out. I just finished watching it five minutes ago and I have to say this movie sucked. I would give it 7/10 at best. There wasn't any point to this movie. It wasn't educational, entertaining, or had any suspense to it (besides the breaking out part). Was this suppose to be a 1970s version of Behind Enemy Lines? The sensationalism at least made that movie fun. I recently watched Killing Fields last month. Maybe it felt redundant, but worse? Either way, I'm not surprised not many people have heard of Rescue Dawn. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Dredd. 8.5/10. It did well not being overtly hokey but still could make fun of itself from time to time. A lot of Gruesome action but I still wanted more. Hope they do another one.
Cabin in the Woods - 7/10 Pretty decent at being original, and also paying huge respect in many ways to Evil Dead. But not spectacular enough to earn a higher score. Nothing overwhelming about it.
Prometheus: 6.5/10. Nothing special at all. A huge disappointment! What a bunch of hype for very little.
