I watched Unstoppable a while ago. Wasn't bad, but not all that good either. 6/10 Exact same thoughts on 127 Hours. 5/10. More: Just Go with It 7/10 I had little expectations for it, but it was a pleseant suprised. Had some flaws, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. No Country for Old Men 8/10 Good movie. Could have been a great one, however some of the stuff was just a little too over the top. There Will Be Blood 8/10 Certainly enjoyed watching it, though some parts could have been done better/differently. A Beautiful Mind 7/10 Good film, though again a little too much over the top at times for my taste. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby 6/10 The movie certainly had some good parts, but it just kinda dragged on. I didn't really dig the Sasha Coen role and IMO they would have been better off just leaving some of the stuff out. It became repetitive after a while. The Big Lebowski 5/10 Well acted, however again just too over the top and too much nonsense for my liking. I understand that that's kinda what the movie was about, but I kept waiting for the movie to take a turn for the good and it just didn't happen. Gran Torino 7/10 Nice storyline, enjoyed most of it. The girl was great, however there was some seriously bad acting going on by her brother. Especially at the end there. Didn't totally dig the end and some parts were a little too unrealistic. Prety good movie though.
I went to new theater in greenspoint mall to see FAST FIVE. The theater really surprised me on its cleanliness and newness. The movie was really HD, Im so used to going to the dolla theater. Oh yeah... the movie was bad ass and it brought back memories when I was 16 when the first one came out. They hardly raced but ****i it im not a ricer.
Just saw The King's Speech - 7.5/10 I must say I was surprised, even if it did get good reviews. I don't normally like these type of drama, but it was surprisingly enjoyable from beginning to end. The climax was touching.
Saw the Pirates of the Caribbean Part 12. Or, was it #4? My wife loved it so much she fell asleep. I thought it was easily the most pointless movie I have seen in a long time. Unfortunately, I expected it to be. My own fault, really. I let my wife choose between POTC4 and Kung Fu Panda 2. She might have still fallen asleep for KFP2, and I would have paid more to see a movie in 3D (someone told me that the 3D for POTC4 wasn't worth it, so I saved the $$$), but at least I would have enjoyed it better. X-Men First Class better be good, 'cause we're seeing it this weekend.
No sir. 10/10 would be a perfect movie and I'm not sure I've seen one yet. 9/10 great movie, minor flaws 8/10 good movie, some flaws/things I didn't like 7/10 decent flick, worth watching It would have to be said though that I just started 'rating' movies about a year ago, so I haven't rated a lot of movies that might have been in the 9-10 range.
ReWatched Joy Luck Club - 8 out of 10 HardBall - Surprisingly good movie 9 out of 10 Minority Report - I still enjoy it. 8 out of 10 Rocket River
X-Men:First Class 8/10 Quite enjoyable. Still think X-Men United is the best out of the series. Red (2010) 2/10 One of the worst POS I ever have to sit through.
13 Assassins - 8/10 Wasn't much of a story but the action was well worth it. I liked the fact that it went old school and used no computerized special effects. Just straight up skillful sword fights. Didn't get attached to any specific characters as much so I didn't feel too bad about the result of the suicide mission. I don't know what it is with the Japanese back then and their harakiri and stuff. It's like such an everyday thing, at least the movie made it seem that way back then. Also I wished I could've fast forwarded the limbless lady part. OMG. One more thing, how come none of the Japanese names or words in the subtitle ever gets pronounced like I would imagine it by the characters?
Saw Apocalypto over the weekend. While I was not a fan of the plot or some of the scenes, I have to admit that it was a very well done movie. 7.5/10.
Super 8 (89%) - As posted in the dedicated Super 8 thread... Saw this in IMAX yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely had an old-school charm to it, with just the right mix of humor, action, and emotion. They also did a superb job of casting talented young actors. It felt a lot like a mash up of E.T., Cloverfield, and Goonies. Definitely recommended, and I suggest you see it in IMAX if for no other reason than the enhanced audio. There were a number of rib-rattling moments that really added to the experience.
Up in the Air (8.5 out of 10) - for some reason i thought it was going to be a sappy love story. but all 3 main characters were engaging and believable. Vera Farmiga is beautiful. Clooney plays his role perfectly. how could he not, since it's almost a direct reflection of his own life.
LOL, yeah I'm always like that when I read Asian names on the subtitles and when it comes out through their dialect, it doesn't sound the same... Epic movie, I can't wait to own this on bluray next month.. Looks like another month of wasting money on bluray once again, lol....
Animated DTV Green Lantern Emerald Knights - B - Another well done DTV from WB and Timm, it's mostly based in space and told in 4 seperate stories. Really enjoyed it, alway enjoyed the space cop aspect of the GL mythos this does a good job of capturing that.
Kung Fu Panda 2 - 6/10 Recycled. Added nothing new. Scream 4 - 1/10 and I'm being generous here. Cheesetastic lines, plot holes, basically everything that could go wrong with an amateur high school production happened. The original one wasn't that good, but this one made them look like Oscar winning movies. Hangover 2 - 6/10 Thank God for X-Men First Class... that saved my week of movies.
Miami vs Dallas - 9/10 Good script, but kind of anticlimactic as the bad guys pretty much rolled over dead without much of a fight. Also the Geico caveman got his precious in the end with the help of his little dwarf named JJ.
