And did you just try to justify your claims by linking a blog of a random dude who didn't even play high school ball? Is Salman Ali someone I should care about with his opinions on basketball?
I am by far not a Stone apologist here but I think they did not know what direction they would be heading when they selected the 2nd overall in Jalen Green, they did not even have Sengün...he was taken after Green. It was a blind man touching the dark.......I disliked it but it was still a blind move. I doubt they knew he would end up developing as a Combo guard who has PG duties at times and that he was a weaker Pick and Roller.
I didn't write the article. Just sharing the other side of the picture. This is the year we should expect to see much more from Green, if we want to be as competitive as other teams. Will he be more focused and have more time to work on his deficiencies with two new babies at different households in California, or will he skip the father time and just focus on basketball? Will he skip more of the fashion shows and fashion shopping and focus more on basketball this summer too? Who knows? I don't know what will happen, but something has to get better. We desperately need more than one great 3 PT shooter as a starter! You can't deny that's a huge problem. I never said Eason was a great shot creator, and didn't say that about Cam either. I also didn't say Amen and Sengun were good 3 PT shooters. We need a backup plan.
Isn't it funny that apparently our shooting guard sucks at 3 pt shooting but has one of the best impact's on our team's offensive per possession efficiency on the team only behind FVV for guys who played large minutes this season? Also you made a statement about how Green wasn't valued as a pnr ball handler coming into the league Relative to what? True pgs that enter the league like Tyrese or CP3? I suggest you look this up. The first three seasons of pnr primary ball handler possession efficiency in terms of ppp, tov, volume etc for Ant and Devin Booker, the current cream of the crop of off guards, and compare that to Green.
I'm sick of talking about Green at this point. I don't like the guy as any more than a 6th man in our future. I think we need a really good 3 PT shooter taking the majority of the deep shots. You don't. I think that because our team is bottom tier in shooting and 3 PT shooting we need help. You think Green is the answer, and I don't. That's fine. No need going round and round about it. Oh, and like I said already, I didn't write that evaluation. I included the link.
Why do you need opinion of some random dude to express your own opinion? I know what you think about Green. I'm just explaining to you why you are wrong. You make claims about Jalen and and I show how those claims are wrong . That's the nature of a online discussion on a message board dedicated to the Houston Rockets.
He doesn't "apparently" suck, he objectively sucks at 3 point shooting. He's ranked 149th out of 160 in the entire league when it comes to 3 point shooting.
So to answer the question posed by the OP, based on what the team currently has. Center - A-, Sengun is the team's best player, he still has a way to go, but he's the closest this team has to a star. Behind him you have a very capable backup in Adams, and a very capable 3rd string in Landale. Pretty much the strongest positional group the team has. PF - B, You have Jabari who has made pretty decent strides since his rookie season improving pretty much across the board...though he's still not where we want him. Off the bench you have Jeff Green who is old, but largely a plus player for his role that will hopefully be diminished next season with Tari Eason returning to the game. If Tari is actually healthy, bump the grade up to a B+ or A- SF - C-, Brooks is terrible, but we're stuck with him due to the awful contract he signed. IMO realistically behind him you have a weird mix of Amen, Cam, and Tari that all have positional flexibility to get technically penciled in at the SF spot. The overall grade takes a hit due to Brooks, but EVERY bench option is superior. SG - D, Jalen Green is absolutely terrible, and the team is handing him the role of the starter because they'd like to be able to trade him. Behind him is realistically only Whitmore. The position needs a better starter, and more depth. PG - B, FVV is a very competent starter but behind him you really only have Amen, who is more of a SF with some still developing PG skills. The starter is strong, but they could use more depth. Needs - First and foremost, the team needs shooting. That's by far the biggest need. After that, they need guard/forward depth . Neither Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, or FVV have much of a future with the Rockets, a lot will depend on if Tari comes back and is healthy and effective. If he does, then you should be able to over all 3 spots, if not, you need help...and either way, you'll need depth. If there was a guard prospect that is REALLY good at shooting, they'd be the perfect pick.
We lost way too many winnable games because our only offense was Fred-Sengun two-men game. One particular d******d on this roster never shows up unless we are playing the worst teams in the league. How could our main problem be anything other than shooting? He's so replacable it's beyond funny how his stans can't see that. We are literally a 50-32 team with Malik Monk.
