Opinions on my 3 drafts so far? Draft was 2 weeks ago which explains Marshall, 12 team league, 1 PPR, default setup Lefor3 1. (6) Larry Fitzgerald 2. (19) Steve Slaton 3. (30) Pierre Thomas 4. (131) Trent Edwards 15. (150) Tampa Bay Any advice on the teams? As you can see, I don't really value the TE (unless it's an insane value pick), the Def (I believe in the matchup more then the defense and refuse to usually choose a High pick on one, and the QB position is not really a concern unless the point system values TD's more (Once again unless I get a good value pick and I believe in matchups and a decent QB is good enough to win).
10 team league, Not PPR, I had 10th pick. Have to have 3 QBs, 5 RBs, 7 WRs (includes TE), 2 K and 2 DEF. QB- Donovan Mcnabb RB- DeAngelo Williams RB- Clinton Portis WR- Larry Fitzgerald WR- Roy Williams WR- Lee Evans K- Nick Folk DEF- Titans Bench: QB- Kurt Warner QB- Joe Flacco RB- Darren McFadden RB- Marshawn Lynch RB- Beanie Wells WR- Brandon Marshall WR- Domenik Hixon WR- Justin Gage WR- Limas Sweed K- John Kasay DEF- Redskins I'm pretty happy with it. I feel like I have pretty good insurance for all of the injury concerns (Warner, Portis, R. Williams) and there is potential for some unexpected production (Wells, Marshall, Lynch).
OK, new rule. You can't post your random team until you give analysis or advice on someone elses team. This is turning into a giant crap dump of a thread.
All these teams look the same really, I just don't see clear cut winners or losers. Mostly middle of the pack, better hope one guy turns into a stud type teams.
I think Josh Morgan will be a good pick up, at least better than Randle El who might be the third receiver if Devin Thomas has anything to say about it. I've seen a few analyst say this could be a break out year for Morgan. I think Marshall went a little too high in your draft. I might be looking for another quarterback besides Campbell. Too high on the Tomlinson pick in my opinion and maybe Lynch too since he is suspended the first part of the season although I noticed you did get his back up. Which New York defense did you pick up, Jets or Giants? Not sure about Tampa's defense with the losses they have had this past off-season. Trent Edwards was a great pick that late, if his receivers stay healthy. Rice was another great late pick. Not sure I would have taken Butterfingers that high though.
I've been a part of very few fantasy leagues where there appears to be 1 or 2 clear cut winners in the pack, especially with the trades, free agency pick-ups, and surprises that are bound to come.
No kidding. Last year in both of my leagues people picked up 3 of the top 5 fantasy RBs in the last 4 rounds of the draft
I'd put Warner in for McNabb, not sure I would keep 3 quarterbacks on my roster, would try Marshall for a game or two over Williams if he is not suspended, in a 10 team league I am suspecting you could have gotten something better than Sweed.
Yeah, Warner vs. McNabb is something I've been debating... but I have to keep Flacco. We have to keep the same number of players (3 QB, 5 RB, 7 WR, 2 K and 2 DEF) all year. Otherwise I would have picked up someone else. Marshall is a wild card for me. Hopefully he gets his act together, but I am just scared to put him above players who I know at least want to succeed. And for Sweed... it was the second to last round, and when every team MUST have 7 WR's, there wasn't much left. So I figured I would gamble with a guy who might prosper with an aging Ward and the emerging star Holmes in front of him. Plus, he's a Longhorn .
With Matt Forte, Chris Johnson, Steve Slaton and DeAngelo Williams all coming in later rounds last season, it really has made it hard to look at a team on paper before week 1 and declare them a "winner" I suppose. If I had to give a couple of hot "buy" RB picks right now I'd say Leon Washington in a PPR league could have a 60 catch season along with 1200-1400 total yards (don't forget return yards) and 7-9 Total TDs. As far as the Rookies, Knowshon was supposed to be the Denver workhorse but he's already nicked up. Chris Wells will probably see a lot of cheap TDs like Hightower was getting last season. Shonn Greene is in the muddled mess of RB in NY, looking good but he's got Thomas Jones and Leon Washington in front of him. LeSean McCoy seems like the sexy pick this year if Westbrook doesn't come back strong, but James Davis out in Cleveland could really be this year's out of nowhere Matt Forte / Steve Slaton type because Jamal Lewis is supposedly looking to be on his last legs.
Yeah, I wanted to draft Morgan originally and he went undrafted so I picked him up. I'm hoping for low risk, high reward payoff. About Marshall, it was a PPR league and he is/was a top 10 WR the previous 2 years so I took him, but as I mentioned, this draft was about 2 weeks ago before all the craziness with him. Campbell was chosen because that was my backup and got him real late, not really happy but it was a late pick. Other QB's available are Hill, Quinn, Russel, and Bulger so I'd take Campbell over those mentioned. The Tomlinson and Gore draft was a product of me being late to my draft and I had preranked the top 25 and Tomlinson and Gore were picked up for me. Not too high on that, but it's not bad since I was able to get Boldin, Welker, and Royal in the PPR league I feel that's good based on the previous years for the players. Also, I don't normally reach on a QB but had to with Rodgers there that late. I feel confident with Lynch as one of my backups since he will be fresh until week 3 and I won't really need him til then since I have LT and Gore. Also, I hope/feel that A. Gonzalez and D. Avery (GO COOGS) will have a breakout year and if they don't they're only backups right? Once again, low risk high reward. My Defense is the Jets, but with every year, I try to play the matchups instead of banking on a great D. Next I was stuck with the 10th pick so I was hoping for Chris Johnson to fall but he was picked 9th so I picked up Fitz and A. Johnson since it is a PPR league. My RB's are eh, I'm usually a traditional player (by that I mean 2 top tier RB's ALWAYS) but this year is crazy since there's only like 5 I would call top fantasy RB's. Hopefully out of Barber, K. Smith, P. Thomas, J. Addai, F. Jones, and R. Rice, 2 of them pan out in time for the playoffs. If more, tradebait will be fine for me. TB is an underratted FF defense as seen last year so hopefully they can duplicate last year's success. Edwards to me is a risk, but his upside his really high based on his performance 2 years ago. If he doesn't pan out, I believe he'll still be better then we saw last year and be around 1000 yards with more then 6 TD's since the Browns running game is going to decline this year. only time will tell. any trades I should look for?
I feel you have a decent to good team based on the potential. You have enough RB power to hold on to til Lynch comes back from his suspension. You have a good committee of QB's and RB's to be able to play the matchups and not depend on the actual player (which is a great thing to have in Fantasy Football), but I doubt Flacco gets any playing time for you (then again I usually never carry more then 2 QB's but you had to since you needed 3). Your WR's are a bit scary to me since you have only one Star receiver who will get you guaranteed #'s in Fitz. Williams is a good pick, but is solely dependent on Romo and how he fits in (since it didn't look to good last year) and Evans has to deal with T.O. Also, I'm in the same boat with you with Marshall. Great WR, could be a #1 for a fantasy team and a real team, but as of now, no one knows, and that sucks. Maybe you could try to package a RB and something else for a good/decent WR.
For research purposes, here is a team I just drafted in my 12 Team Yahoo PPR with Passing TD's worth 6 pts and 1 IDP (LB). I had the 9th overall pick. Parentheses indicates overall draft number QB: Aaron Rodgers (40) WR: Larry Fitzgerald (9) WR: Braylon Edwards (64) RB: Frank Gore (16) RB: Kevin Smith (33) TE: Dallas Clark (57) Flex: Beanie Wells (81) Flex: Lance Moore (88) K: Longwell (153) DEF: Bears (112) IDP: Patrick Willis (105) BN: LeSean McCoy (129) BN: Leon Washington (136) BN: Jeremy Shockey (160) BN: Trent Edwards (177) BN: Josh Morgan (184) BN: Chris Henry (201)
Best team I have ever gotten I think.... 10 man league, PPR QB: Warner RB: S. Jackson, Gore, Bush, Benson WR: Jennings, OchoCinco, Royal, Gonzales, Hester, Ginn, S. Smith (NY) TE: Witten Def: Jets, Bears K: Gotskowski
I like Jackson/Gore combo, esp in PPR... I hope you got Bush on the cheap too. Pretty solid team. Warner will make or break you, though.
10-team custom league with more emphasis on QB's...points only scoring. I've done this for the last three years (finished 3, 1, 9) and really liked it, except for having Tom Brady and Carson Palmer last year 2 starting QB: .25 pts/completion, -.25 pts/incompletion, 6 pts/TD, 1 pt/50 yds RBs: 1 pt/20 yds, 6 pts/TD WRs: 1 pt/20 yds, 1 pt/reception, 6 pts/TD QB: Drew Brees (pick 8) QB: D.Mcnabb (48) WR: A.Johnson (13) WR: B.Berrian (68) RB: R.Brown (28) RB: R.Rice (113) TE: J.Witten (33) W/T: L.Moore (93) W/R: D.Mason (133) K: N.Rackers D: Green Bay (108), Seattle (148) BN: D.Mcfadden (53), K.Moreno (73), J.Campbell (88), B.Favre (128), A.Bradshaw (153), J.Maclin (168) I'm looking for input on who to start week 1- right now it is set as you see listed, but I'm debating starting Moreno over Rice or Mason.
Why would you start Moreno over Rice? Baltimore plays Kansas City week 1 and we all know how horrendous their defense was, especially against the run.
I'm definitely leaning toward Rice, but Denver isn't exactly playing a shut-down defense either (Cincinnati). I think Rice is a safer play at this point though. Just don't know what we're going to see with that Denver offense.
12 man team had the last pick Lefor3 1. (10) Larry Fitzgerald 2. (11) Andre Johnson 3. (30) Marion Barber 4. (31) Kevin Smith 5. (50) Braylon Edwards 6. (51) Pierre Thomas 7. (70) Joseph Addai 8. (71) Matt Schaub 9. (90) Felix Jones 10. (91) Torry Holt 11. (110) Visanthe Shiancoe 12. (111) Chris Henry 13. (130) Ray Rice 14. (131) Trent Edwards 15. (150) Tampa Bay I need a Kicker since I didn't draft one. Who would you drop for a kicker? I'm hesitant to drop any RB's since my RB core is weak and i'm hoping someone has a breakout year. It is a PPR league as well. Opinions on who to drop?
