Rate Bruce Springsteen

that's great

 

This is one of my favorite songs of all time.



I also think his album The Rising captures the aftermath to 9/11 better than anything that was ever produced.

 

I'll look for it on Netflix. For the record, I like him personally.

 

He was going to put out an album after Darkness on the Edge of Town but just never did and then put out The River instead. All of those unreleased tracks finally got put out some years back as The Promise. 21 songs that could’ve been hits for any other artist, he just didn’t bother to release. I think he probably has a lot more “b sides”/throwaways than that but I don’t have the energy to keep up with all his output. If you listen to someone like Steve Earle (who I like) he’s basically doing Springsteen stuff with a southern accent.

 

not sure how I missed this comment yesterday, but I'm a big fan of both. I'm not a big concert guy, but I've seen them both several times, all excellent shows. probably my two favorite artists

I can understand visiting places where an important event occurred.... I don't get the whole "travel around the world to stand in the same spot where Bruce Springsteen stood" thing.

I mean... it's not Normandy Beach or anything.

EDIT: Ok, I confess that I didn't watch the video through to the end... they traveled to NY to watch Springsteen in concert. Okay, that's different.

I was working at sound warehouse in the eighties and got free tickets to see him at the summit. It was Born in the USA tour, 1984 maybe… anywho, I was not into the boss, I was way too cool. Let me tell you, he rocked that place out, been a fan ever since.

 

I don't know how you could listen to those four songs and a) think all his stuff sounds the same, and b) not be a fan.

 

Manfred Mann and the Manfred Mann Band had one of the best Bruce songs ever



My dad loved Glory Days, so I still have a soft spot for that one, other than what has been mentioned.

 

I've always said, "If Bruce is the boss, I quit!"

I tried and tried. Even listening to his catalog in order of release and I just don't get it. It's probably me.

 

Jesus Grandpa..... why don't you tell us about how your Uncle Barnabus used to wash his clothes in the stream once he scared the saber tooth tigers away.

 

I was in Barca Spain for Carnival and the USA section of the parade just had different bruce songs playing

 

i like that one song he sings about how the workin' man cant get a fair shake in this day and age.

 

Dire Straits is superior to Bruce Springsteen.
