Morey needs to get together with Mattress Mac, get Mattress Mac to commit to pay Rashard $10 mill over the next 2 years to do commercials, then give Mac a sweetheart deal on his ads, then offer Rashard the full MLE, with an opt out after a couple years, so they can give him a bigger deal.
haha, the ****ty thing is that Mattress Mac could afford that in a heart beat, and he claims to be a huge Rockets fan, but he won't do it.
He doesn't own the Rockets? Are you serious? All these years I have been under the influence that he owned the Rockets and was pulling all the strings.... WOW did you change my perception on the whole idea that maybe he can contribute some to bringing in a big name player like Lewis. Why did he pay for a full page ad in the Chronicle to draft Vince Young? Does he own the Texans? SHUT UP YOU IDIOT, HE SHOULD B/C HE CAN
sounds more like you hoping the rockets don't...if we can get lewis for Battier and a pick...the rockets will do it in a hearbeat and so would I....
Ok keep thinking that, you can dream. Presti wants to keep Lewis and it would take more than Battier and a pick to get him out of there. We don't have the money to sign him straight up, and we don't have the trade assets to get him. I do want Lewis on our team, are you kidding? We would have three all starts in our starting five, but I am a realist and know we can't get him.
Rashard is right now to me a pipe dream. Of course he seems like a better option than Battier; but Battier is a Solid Solid Solid option. Plus he's already here and he isn't costing the Rockets Max money. He more than amply pull his weight. And with Brooks now the future poing guard for the Rockets, then there will be a lot less shots to spread around. But like I said Rashard is an Excellent Pipe dream to come to the Rockets. Rockets future still looks very bright to me
(The News Tribune) Another Rashard to H-town Mention This is certainly no gurantee, but it is exciting to see 2 articles in past few days mention Houston as a real possibility. http://www.thenewstribune.com/sports/sonics/story/99819.html FRANK HUGHES; The News Tribune Published: June 30th, 2007 01:00 AM The agent for Seattle SuperSonics free agent Rashard Lewis is meeting with Sonics general manager Sam Presti this weekend to gauge where the team stands in the wake of the acquisition of Kevin Durant and Jeff Green and the trade of Ray Allen to the Boston Celtics. Lewis opted out of the final two years and $21 million of his contract and is seeking a six-year deal that Lewis’ camp would like to approach or exceed $80 million. There are sign-and-trade possibilities that could benefit both the team and Lewis. Houston, Portland, New York and Boston all have interest.
I live near Orlando, & believe you me ... The Magic are going after him, & hard! It's in the paper here nearly every day. None of these articles from out of town are even mentioning them as a player. They have like a bajillion dollars to spend too.
Gene The Pig mis-spoke or does not know what he is talking about because Orlando cannot even sign him outright if they re-up Darko. They will have to do a sign-n-trade just like everyone else.
New York has a lot more young talent to offer than the Rockets in David Lee and Renaldo Balkman, and could throw in Mardy Collins or Wilson Chandler.
I think this got lost in the other thread so I'll repost it here. Maybe we picked Brooks for Seattle. Battier, Brooks, and Sura's contract for a resigned Lewis seems fair since they could lose him outright as a free agent. Some things to consider: -Seattle has 4 SF's. Lewis, Szczerbiak, Green, and Durrant. -We have 4 point guards. -Seattle does not have a quality starting shooting guard after the Allen trade. -Brooks played in the Pacific NW, so they are familiar with him. -Seattle was going to trade Ridnour for Atlanta's #11 pick. So they don't see him as the future. -We made a draft day trade with Seattle which may have been part of a later, bigger trade. -Lewis is not under contract, so the sign and trade would have to wait until July 1.
Rashard has to decide: make money on a crappy team of take a cut to win. Unless you're a franchise player that can carry a team, you can't have it both ways.
