There's nothing minor about any kind of knee surgery especially on a 34 year old Pro ball player with a ton of miles. As if he wasn't already washed up.... this is probably the final nail in the coffin. Time to hang em up.
Uhh.... Joey Dorsey and Ish Smith have specific roles. What do you envision is Rashard Lewis' role? .343 three-point shooter?
Excuse me while I giggle with joy! Not that in glad Lewis is hurt, I've actually always been a fan. I just love to see something go wrong for the Mavs... And Cubans beetch asss!
Elsik High woot woot...HOU SWAT till the day he dies...I was actually sad the Rockets didnt pick him up this offseason.
It doesn't matter what Rashard Lewis shot last year. He has remained in the NBA and he's a seasoned veteran. Dorsey was an NBA journeyman reject who couldn't cut it in the NBA so he left to play overseas where he was also a journeyman and through god's (Morey) good graces he's getting another chance. A chance that NOBODY on this board would have imagined or predicted in their wildest dreams. Ish Smith will probably fight for minutes as 3rd string PG and that's if he even makes the final roster. A BIG IF.
Womp womp womp: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>It looks like Rashard Lewis didn't pass his physical (knee) with the Mavs and will be a free agent again</p>— Eric Pincus (@EricPincus) <a href="https://twitter.com/EricPincus/statuses/491784952262828033">July 23, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Point is, Mavs needed shooters. Lewis has potential to be a decent one, regardless of what he did last season. We're talking spot up shooting, not dribble drives...even if they void the deal, they will need to find a replacement and most have been signed.
Playoffs, Rashard Lewis, 2013-2014 PPG 5.3 FG% .412 3P% .373 RPG 2.1 APG 0.3 PER 9.9 Playoffs, 2012-2013 PPG 1.5 FG% .400 3P% .000 RPG 0.6 APG 0.4 PER 6.7 Playoffs, 2009-2010 PPG 12.9 FG% .462 3P% .373 RPG 5.6 APG 2.3 PER 14.2
I think that's common practice. You negotiate a deal that includes a contingency that you pass the physical. Players won't consent to a physical if you haven't even given them an acceptable offer. It's like buying a house -- you agree on a price and enter an option period during which you can hire an inspector to look at the house. When he tells you the foundation's cracked, the plumbing is bad, and there's lead paint everywhere, then you can choose to withdraw your offer or ask for discounts on the price.
@WojYahooNBA: RT @SpearsNBAYahoo: The Mavericks have voided forward Rashard Lewis' one-year contract after finding out he needed knee surgery in his physical, a source said.

Bruce Bowen, Patrick Beverley and Mario Elie all ended up going to play overseas because they didn't make an NBA team. All of them returned to be successful in the NBA. So what's your point?
