Thats like asking if need water live. Yea sure we can live for a couple of days without but then we the. The same is true with Yao. We might not need him sometimes to win but without there is no way we can stay strong enough to win it all.
I would trade anyone if it helps the Rockets. The only players i would trade Yao straight up for though would be Kobe, Lebron, Dwight Howard, Kevin Garnet and Ryan Bowen.
