does anyone else remember that tmac wanted to leave bc he didnt wanna wait for dwight howard to get ready...to think if he stayed him and dwight might have won the east by now
lets get this out the way I know probably 3-4 million per season of what McGrady's getting paid is based on big expectations of a true superstar, and being a leader and face of the franchise. But he just wasn't/isn't leader material. It wasnt taking a guess on him with big money like Matt Schaub. McGrady was an established product, there was kinda a "book" on him. Definitely pick at a player's faults and rag on them hard when they disappoint, its part of what we the fans and media do. Not saying personalities are easy to read either, just that with a little intuition you can kinda sense the difference between a Karl Malone type personality and Mo Taylor type.
Anyone who believes Orlando got the better end of the trade is delusional. Anyone who thinks Weisbrod is anything other than a moron is delusional. TMac has his issues. But he is way better than Francis+Mobley. As JVG said, "If anyone can't see that, I don't know what to tell him."
The league did not think a guy averaging 18 rebounds and 5 blocks a game was a wimp..........That much is for sure........... What about UCLA when he was there, Was he not a leader? Led them to 3 Championships............ Not to mention he is the greatest scorer to ever play the game of basketball, That takes some kind of leadership does it not.......... He was also selected to the all defensive team 11 times, Tracy?????? Defense shows leadership more than anything. I wish Tracy would show a milligram of defense........ And by the way, your were giving false information earlier.......... Kareem had Bill Walton bamboozled, he completely dominated statistically..... He was far from "completely outplayed". That proves you did not watch those games, because Kareem was completely dominant in every way......... And finally, Do you know what Kareems nickname was to his teammates? "Cap, or Captain........"
Wrong, They played much better with Steve and Cat then they did with Mcgrady the previous year........ They would have been a tough team if they did not trade Cat for Doug Christie........
If I recall correctly... Before that Cat for Christie trade, they were number one in the East for a time period. Then they thought they needed more Defense instead of offense, which confuses me because Cuttino was not a bad defender. Certainly better than an aging Doug.
Yup, They were playing great and Steve just did not understand........Nor anyone. I really believe that trade killed Stevie Franchise and he turned into Steve Francis..............
Sounds like a bitter city of Orlando. Does anyone remember how terrible the Magic fans are? When you lose 19 straight, someone needs to be blamed, and I guess Tracy was the scapegoat for that team.
I did watch those games. Walton put on an absolute offensive clinic. He had Kareem spinning around wondering if he should drop back for the cutter or stay on Walton. Walton was the best passing center ever. It was laughable. Sure Kareem gets his ... but if you don't understand what Walton did that year ... sweeping Kareem on his way to the title ... then I'm sorry. You missed one of the most spectacular leadership performances of all time. The guy was a passing genius. So don't stare at his numbers...it's like looking at Magic's numbers and giving Kareem the Final's MVP yet again, when we all knew it was Magic. Kareem was completely frustrated by Walton, Cowens, Sikma, Lanier and Wes Unseld. But you know, he was like Nowitzki...he's going to score. Just can't win without a better player on his team...like Oscar and Magic
I thought that in light of what is currently going on with T-Mac, I just thought I would bring back this thread for the sake of giving everyone on this board a chance to view the video on the first post. On it, I sure like it when John Weisbrod goes to talking about how the game is a team sport when he goes to discussing moving T-Mac. I do think that with all the bad games T-Mac had, and all the bad losses to inferior teams with T-Mac on the floor, he really needs to accept accountibility and responsibility for all of his ballstopping on the team's offense.
Come on, man. Everything falled into place before his back during 22 strikes. He just stole the fruitage when his brothers passed the hard days. If his contract won't end next year, do you believe that all these things will happen? He prefer contract to champion. That's the difference between Kobe and Tmac and that's what happened before in Orlando.
just saw the video. might i add that i never wanted this trade to go down. of course tmac is a superstar but we gave up way too for him? how does that help a team to give up a backcourt that was averaging 40 points combined (one of the best backcourts in the game) and cato...cato wasnt amazing but a decent big man to have in the game. i wish this trade wouldve never gone down.
I just thought I would share a thread on Magicmadness.net concerning T-Mac's move to have the microfracture surgery and miss the remainder of the season. Surprisingly, there aren't many posts to it since the Orlando Magic was the last team T-Mac played for before the Rockets acquired him four years ago. All t-mac haters should have their knees and their backs hammered .....and then have them try to play basketball.....see how they fare..
