You mean 300lb Shawn Kemp, Patrick Ewing's corpse, Jacque Vaughn, Tyronn Lue, and Jerryl Sasser(yeah.... I know.... who the f*** is he!?)

Sure, Dwight Howard is the centerpiece of the Magic, but look at our Yao-T-Mac combo. Do you think a Dwight-T-Mac combo would be any more effective? Would they be able to pick up all the role players that they did without dumping T-Mac? The point is, with any trade you make, you have to consider both ends of the deal. At the time, we Rockets fans thought we got the better end of trade, bar none. I initially thought they traded T-Mac away simply because he was unhappy in Orlando. After 4 seasons however, the long-term effects are starting to show, and we all know it. As for Orlando tanking and getting the number 1 pick in '04, look at what Houston did with the number 8 pick in '06; we all know how controversial the Gay-Battier trade has become today. I mean... we only got Battier for "win now" purposes, and we didn't quite exactly "win" in his first two seasons as a Rocket. Meanwhile, we all get to watch Rudy Gay grow into a promising superstar. I'm not trying to down-play Battier, it's just that, in the comparison of what kind of caliber of player he is, I just don't think that trade was reasonable. What concerns me is this: If we don't win it all this season, what happens to this team next season? Two seasons from now?
While this still plagues him today you still pull that trigger every single time. Francis, Mobley, Cato for T-mac.
Was a steal of a deal, this team has been a legitimate contender for the past few years, Orlando is not.
why are we listening to this weisbrod guy? didn't he get fired right during the season after the trade? dude is clueless.
exactly, i don't think the orlando front office wanted to trade tmac. tracy demanded to be traded b/c he really disliked weisbrod PERSONALLY. they really hated each other. that's why weisbrod got fired the same season after the trade was made.
Best line from Weisbrod: "I'm pretty sure we could have come in last place without him" . I think that sums up what his team contribution was. Four years with the Rockets, the question I ask myself is: Could we have lost in the first round three times and missed the playoffs once without him? I don't like the honest answer.
Haha, you can tell Tmac's amblyopia still wasn't fixed at the time of that video. Anyway, I don't know what to think of Tmac. If he ever gets on the BBS, we should have a questionnaire for him. There are lots of questions to be answered.
that last yr in orlando was just an aberration. they made the playoffs and were competitive in every series with tracy. and yes so far we haven't past the first round with him. but who would predict the season-ending injury to yao last yr? i'm sure 99% of rocket fans believe we would have advanced past the first round last yr if yao was healthy.
Look, Weisbrod got fired, largely because of the outcome of that trade. Decent GMs don't talk trash like that, especially prior to a trade. Did CD or JVG bash Francis before or after the trade? Heck, I don't recall CD or Rudy even bashing #33 for christsakes. I really do not think there are any Orlando fans who give Weisbrod any bit of credit for Orlando's 52 win season last year, but boy are some of us waiting to reinvent history to bash TMac.
Its on management. And us. Though you put it all on McGrady. If its so obvious what McGrady is and always has been from the start , management should have known not to put trust into him. Dont make him into being what he's not. Even according to your own logic, its why what you spew never holds much weight,- If everyone should have seen it all along, blame over-optimism and the people for turning a blind eye to it. Not the player for being the same fixed product he's always been. But by doing that you wouldnt have a bbs board life.
For all the comments saying the trade allowed them to free up money by moving Tracy. You do realize that Grant Hills contract was the biggest problem in why Orlando never did a good job of building around T-mac?
I like what Steve said at the end, "You are going to get a gutsy effort from us every night, we are not gonna try to be cute with it or to cool" Was he talking about Tracy? Because it seems to me like he described him to a tee.......... Would Tracy rather look good and lose, or look bad and win?
did you see the dallas game earlier this yr? his stats were nothing to smile about, but dude looked like a kid in a candy store in the 4th when his teammates stepped up. he wants to win. but he hasn't, so people can throw every bit of criticism at him.
Don't forget that Francis attempted to sabotage that trade by saying he wouldn't show up. It took a face to face with Weisbrod, and CD had to get involved, to finish the deal. The comments by Steve were probably a result of putting to rest any ill-will Steve had showing up in Orlando. He really put Weisbrod on the spot and started pissing off a lot of fans.
