Future Picks are so much more valuable...
preferably one in 2014 (2013 looks to be a dud with prelim scouts)

Lowry is worth a lot more than a random first round pick. Morey wasn't going to give him away for the 8th pick

Is toronto going to be better?? If not...getting a possible high lottery pick is so worth the deal!

We might as well trade for Charlie Villanueva then. Hell, he has a better contract and is a better rebounder. What, no one wants to trade for Villanueva?

Raptors literally only have one good player in Valanciunas and they're not trading him.

Eric Koreen: Once again on Lowry: there are some big fans of his in Raps org. HOU needs to settle PG position before they can deal.

No doubt. When you look at a lot of other teams around the league, it really puts things in perspective. I still fully support DM. Let's see what we've got at the start of the season.

I don't want the Raptors pick, if they have Lowry, Nash, Derozan and Bargnani you have to think that they will at least be competing for a playoff spot. I know everyone is down on Lowry but I think we can get more than just a pick that's likely low teens.

That might be what you would like the offer, but they would want something similar to what Anthony Davis would bring in a trade. Raptors probably think they have the better of those two prospects already. I wouldn't say they are wrong either.

The only thing they can offer us is salary dump, and future picks. I might be interested in their first rounder. With ours, there's a good chance at least 1 of those is a top 10.

2013 draft may be a dud, but the rox can ask for a future protected first round pick. lotto protected in 2013 (so they probably will keep it), but lets say top 5 protected in 2014, and unprotected in 2015.

They may try but do you really think he would choose the raptors ? they may have already contacted Dragic and he said no way

Maybe Kyle and KMartin for Ross and exp. contract Calderon (gives us backup pg for a year, but that could backfire with Llull in a year).

i.e., I'll let Morey figure it out.

interesting idea, but you would think we could get more for 2 near All-Stars with reasonable contracts

True, but that might not be that much better, if better at all either.

In your scenario you would run the risk of (1) the Raptors sneaking into the playoffs next year and (2) the Raptors being much improved in 2014.
Heck, they wouldn't even have to be much improved. Even even they're just at or below .500, you essentially would have traded Lowry for a pick in the 12-16 range.

I wonder if Morey/Colango already have a framework in place for a deal pending the Rockets securing a starting PG
