It's from his old contract after going through his injury. This is understandable. He'll get his worth in a few years.

Overpaid but if the market would pay him that, take it. And choose Raptors over Knicks. Knicks are going nowhere. At least Raptors make the playoffs.
If they are serious about adding Wes Matthews (also talking to him) they will have to move someone. They are around $47 million in salary before they add Caroll. His $15 put them $63 million give or take cap holds, etc. If they are offering Wes somewhere between $10 and $14 million, they need to clear some salary.
They're about (possibly ? ), to sign Matthews, if they trade DeRozan for power forward, their lineup would look like: Lowry, Matthews, Carroll, PF via trade and Val. That team is way much better then what they had so i don't really see why there is so much hatting. If he was signed on 4 year 48mil, everyone would say it's decent, but with cap going BOOM, it will be decent as long as he will produce for years to come. His a savvy veteran and his game doesn't relay on athleticism much. It's rumored that NY were to offer same deal for Carroll, so could people please drop this BS that Raps are stupid and etc?
They aren't trading DeRozan. He was in the meetings with Carroll and Wes Matthews. He's a big part of their push whereas Lowry is apparently sitting at home.
It would seem to be logical to trade him as his looking for 25mil once his contract is up, but it's probably just me. And given they will/might have both Matthews and Carroll, i don't see all of the 3 playing starter minutes unless one of them will be a 6th man or Carroll will play PF? By the way: Cap spikes to 100 mil in 2 years 15 mil a year in 2 years is 15 percent of cap room 15 percent of cap room right now is 9 mil
Carroll is going to play the 4 apparently. Seems bizarre to me, but that's the report. DeRozan is working as the lead recruiter and is in the meetings.
Lowry has to be on the block. With three other scorers in the lineup, the Raptors need a facilitator more now.
Agreed, but they don't just need to swap him out, in order to get Wes they need to clear salary. Might actually open up the opportunity to trade with Toronto for Lowry with expirings.
Given that they traded Vasquez and got only a rookie pg and Rindour i can't really see them trading Lowry without getting a pg back of some sort. Masai knows Lowry got an excellent contract, so it won't go cheap if it even will. I could easily see them now moving Ross, since his in last year of his rookie contract they could also add Patterson also with Ross as well.
Wonder if Cleveland would use the Haywood deal here to get Lowry and maybe Ross if the numbers worked? Toronto would risk helping a fellow east contender but not sure who else has an expiring non guaranteed deal that could work.
