With how weak the east is, we could see a lot of records broken this year. Looking at Toronto's schedule they have feasted on bad teams so far. Lets take a look at the defensive efficiency rankings of their opponents: 2 wins vs Atlanta (20th) 2 wins vs Orlando (18th) 1 loss vs Miami (24th) 1 win vs OKC (7th) 1 win vs Boston (26th) 1 win vs Washington (6th) 1 win vs Philly (17th) 1 loss vs Chicago (9th) 2 wins vs Utah (28th) 1 loss vs Dallas (14th) 1 loss vs Lakers (30th) 1 win vs Sacramento (tied 21st) The average of the rankings of opponent defensive efficiency comes out to just under 24. We are just under 1/4 of the season played, so the sample sizes are still relatively small. Toronto is currently sitting as the 2nd most efficient offensive team behind Dallas. As they play better teams and those good teams have more tape on them, I predict they will finish lower.
Yep. Obviously, the easy schedule to start the season off plays a big part in this. But it's still pretty impressive. They're demolishing the teams they are supposed to beat. That's how it should be.
B-b-b-but I thought the Dallas Mavericks has the most prolific offense in the history of the NBA this season?
him and Marcus Morris ( for a 2nd round pick?). Practically let go for nothing. Pay "stars" w.e they want but trade good role players to avoid paying them.
Marcus Morris was traded for Thomas Robinson who was traded for Kostas Papanikolau. Not exactly nothing.
All these media superlatives ... I thought the Mavs had the NBA's best offense. Now it's the Raptors. It's better to have the specifics--what are they good at--and the stats to back it up. Like the Rockets are the best in limiting opponents 3pt FG percentage etc. We are #2 in defensive rating etc. That term "Spur-esque" also gets thrown out a lot.
IIRC PPat didn't want to bang in the post to get those rebounds. He also didn't have a post game. We waited for them to come around, but I'm pretty happy with DMo/TJones over PPat/MMorris.
That is all fine and good, but I would not expect them to be in the top 7 seeds in the Western Conference. Let us be real here.
