    I don't get Toronto.

The Rockets are offering Luis Scola, who is a low-post threat and a great hustler. He'll get paid about 8-10 million. For some reason, Toronto doesn't seem to want him.

Yet, they are willing to make a deal with Cleveland that would give them Anderson Varejao... who isn't even half the player Scola is on offense, and is already getting paid $7 million? He's only 2 years younger than Scola too, so it's not like they are going for age.

The Cavs have a huge asset, the bird rights to Shaq. They could S&T Shaq along with Delonte, and their other expirings to come up with about $30 million in expiring contracts to take on Bosh, Hedu, and Calderon. That gets Toronto out of all sorts of bad money and allows them to start afresh. This deal would be predicated on Shaq agreeing to a huge buyout, which I see no reason why he wouldn't be willing to do, since he is essentially getting free money before he accepts Atlanta's MLE deal.

Good point. How is Houston not even in the discussion? Unless Morey and Colangelo are trying to one up each other.

Colangelo probably wants Brooks and Morey is not going to budge. I guess this what happens when you have two powerful GM's trying to work a sign and trade.

Yah, and even Chris addressed this fact on First Take this morning. He would have to play alongside Jameson for next few years and he doesn't want to play center, he has stressed that and unless they bring in Z or another guy to play legitimate center he won't want to go there. After saying this, he immediately mentioned this was why Houston was a much better situation for him.

I have a hard time believing that the Raptors would enable a dynasty to be built within their own conference

Not to mention, Bosh doesnt wanna play center.

I could be wrong but I dont see Bosh warming up to being Robin to Lebron's Batman for the next 6 years...this guys ego seems WAY too inflated for that.

Maybe they're being assholes and don't want him to go to a team that he wants to go? Either way, I don't like hearing that Houston was not mentioned as one of the S&T teams that Bosh wants.

They're rebuilding so maybe Scola doesn't fit their plans. I'm guessing they want to go young.

If Bosh has told the Raptors "No on Houston" then it doesn't matter what we offer and it would be futle for them to push it. I'm sure they would move on to making the best trade available to teams he has said yes to. I personally don't think there is a true Yes out there yet. He's waiting for more chips to fall before giving them the short list. But I do think he's said no to Houston.

Maybe Cleveland's willing to take on Calderon or Turkoglu and Morey's not. If that's the case, I agree with Morey. I'd rather just run with Scola, PP and Chuck at the 4 than take on one of those gargantuan salaries.

the raps have been working on S&T scenarios with every team interested in bosh. some of them were able to reach an agreement, some not.

maybe the raps and cavs can agree to a S&T deal, but that doesn't mean bosh wants to go there... OTOH, bosh may want to go to a team like the bulls (who don't have two full max contracts) to join lebron or wade, but the teams can't agree on a S&T.

so really, you need all the stars to align. bosh needs to want to play there, raps need to want the returning package... all signs point to houston as the best option for all parties.

As stated earlier, Houston cannot offer Scola unless it is a sign and trade situation that Scola has previously agreed upon. Scola is not on the table just yet, the problem is people are speculating he is.

my guess is that Houston is maybe 2nd or 3rd on Bosh's and Toronto's list in terms of a deal....but that being said, we are still a viable option for both...so they are checking around seeing if they can come to some more common ground...i think we are still ok

This news doesn't really scare me. Bosh doesn't want to go to Cleveland, regardless of whether LeBron is there (and frankly I don't blame him). It's possible that he could warm up to the idea because of the allure of playing with LBJ, but it doesn't seem that's likely. To me, Toronto is just pushing for a better deal from teams working through a S&T (most notably Houston). Also, the Raptors want draft picks and trade exceptions, so if we do deal with them we can kiss the Knicks swapping rights/picks goodbye.

    Mo Williams? Jamison? Big Z?
Are they really scrubs? The same team won 60 games two seasons in a row

actually they do thats why they reached out to CLE that they would.. Hickson or Verajao is who they covet and CLE would fill in the rest.. of course we have better assets than anyone but TOR would settle with CLE's

    From Feigen's latest blog...

    http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2010/07/a_stat_of_something_in_new_yor.html

From the start, the Rockets had the framework of a sign-and-trade in place with the Raptors, according to a person with knowledge of the talks. It was a two-for-one deal, though I'm not sure if a pick would be in there, too (seems like it would be.)

I think people are just not understanding the idea that Toronto may have MULTIPLE S&T deals in place at the same time. Just because they have one for Cleveland, doesn't mean they don't have one for the Rockets, or the Bulls, or anyone else.

And for Toronto, the more S&T deals they have, the more leverage they have against each potential Bosh suitor. Toronto can play Houston against Cleveland, asking Houston to sweeten the pot because they are willing to S&T Bosh to other teams.

It really is a very complicated and messy game they're all playing right now. Thankfully, we have one of the best at it. :)

Pretty interesting question. Maybe they plan on being irrelevant the rest of Bosh's career, so it won't matter where he goes
