Not sure why the article thinks Gay would opt out of that deal. There is zero reason for him to do that.
Seriously, if Gay opts out of 19 million next year it surpasses Latrell Sprewell turning down 21 mm to feed his family in terms of idiocy. Not going to happen.
You ain't bulls*****g. Unless some chump GM offers him a new contract at, say, 15 per; and only Isiah Thomas in his prime would throw away someone else's money like that. The Raptors really ought to cut bait. If a team with expirings like Detroit (Villanueva, Stuckey) wants to fill that 3-spot and doesn't mind wasting a bit too much money on the guy, go into the tank now. The Raptors, as constituted, are a fringe playoffs/fringe lottery team. That's one hungry, hungry, hungry family. And if I remember right, Spree never played again in the NBA. Pride can be an awful thing.
i think the bulls should go after him... i think they can take his game to the next level (Durant level) and the bulls need someone that can create shot...Cmon Bulls!
Didn't think about that one. Raptors could start tanking presumably and Knicks could get that piece to MAYBE propel them to contenders. Even then they would have flaws.
Not surprising. They didn't pay Masai Ujiri a ton of $ to be the GM so he can stand pat with the team. Everyone on that team is subject to be traded, including even Valanciunas (he is the least likely one, though). Lowry, DeRozan, Gay, etc. all better watch out.
I dont know but rudy gay just doesn't seem like a winning player and its tough to get good players to Canada. I say Keep Gay and shoot for Julius Randle Kyle Lowry Demar Derozan Rudy Gay Julius Randle Valanciunus bench Amir Johnson Terence Ross thats a very good top 7
Im currently playing with kyle lowry Kevin Martin Shane Battier Luis Scola Dalembert best team on the game
Raptors needs to tank if they want Wiggins. We all know it's their final chance because David Stern will be leaving soon.
Agreed. 0% chance Rudy Gay opts out. He is one of the league's most overpaid players, and Toronto might have been the only team in the league willing to trade for that contract. The new management team will happily take expiring contracts for either Gay or DeMar DeRozan. 0% chance that Houston will be interested in either one of these dudes.
"Raptors have talked about trading Rudy Gay" kind of sounds like "Heat have talked about starting Lebron James" to me after 10 hours of Bill and Jalen footage where they presupposed Gay was gone about 15 times.
Quote from a Raptors fan on reddit: "Josh Smith is a sharpshooter compared to Rudy Gay. 6-23 FG, 0-3 3PT, 2-4 FT, 14 pts And this is during a game when his own teammate was on fire. Derozan's line: 14-23 FG, 2-5 3PT, 1-2 FT, 31 pts" Yeah, Rudy Gay is on Kevin Durant's level.
