Anyone else curious as to why the article has a picture of Gasol and not Bosh, or maybe they got Gasol and Biedrins mixed up somehow?
Colangelo believes he can bring in and retain free agents specifically by targeting foreign players. Americans seem to have a desire to play in the States. It is a solid strategy. Going after Biedrins is a way to ensure they don't lose Bosh for nothing. Maybe they know something we don't. I don't hate Biedrins on that roster. He fits. They would just need to add a star somehow.
How different is the Raptors system, being a team that runs the floor and big men shoot outside jumpers? Given you'd probably have to throw in a Jarret Jack or some scrub but being the Raptors I don't see how that trade doesn't go down, if on the table of course.
I think it would cost us at least Battier and Scola if we were serious about getting Bosh. Don't get me wrong. I'd still do it, but I'd hate to see those guys go...
Becoming a free agent does not automatically mean leaving your current team. In fact, players FAR more often stay with the team they were with, than leave outright. It almost never happens, as a S&T is usually the alternate outcome - especially with max players. The Raptors and Bosh have been very good with each other so the options are really A) he opts out and re-signs for more money or B) he chooses to change teams and gets dealt in a S&T. In both scenarios, the Raptors have no need to make a panic trade and if any of you guys have been following the team this summer, you'd know this deal has about 0.01% chance of happening. Both Bosh and Colangelo have said they'll play out the season and make decisions later. The only way that changes is if Bosh changes his mind and asks to be traded. Besides, if anyone actually read the link - it cited another paper who basically said "Bosh's name came up in a trade conversation..." - which is hardly an actual rumor.
You don't word a rumor the way they did unless Biedrins was the main piece Toronto would receive in return. Biedrins makes a ton of money so in terms of matching salaries, they're nearly there already by tossing his name into the mix.
There is now way golden state would trade the face and future of their franchise, and their starting center for a one year rental, that would at best have them contending for the final two spots in the playoffs.
No matter how nice they are about it or what way you put it Bosh is leaving after this season. Whether it be by trade, signing, or buy out (not likely) he's not going to be a Raptor next season. I am 99.9% sure of that.
I suspect at some point that Cuban will get involved in the Bosh sweepstakes and offer up.........................Nowitzki. Bosh is younger and Nowitzki has peaked. Bosh is a Dallas boy. I expect Cuban to make a blockbuster offer of Nowitzki to Toronto basically straight up for Bosh. If they offer Nowitzki, Toronto may bite since they are unlikely to receive a better offer. Dallas would also have the best chance of re-signing him. Why would he want to go anywhere else once he was home, especially with an owner willing to open the checkbook and surround him with championship talent and coaching?
LOL yes he is. Dirk's been performing at an MVP level for a few years now. Dallas just screwed up by letting Nash go, signing Dampier, then trading Harris away for Kidd.
