Idk man, he just traded the most desirable player on the rockets for a bag of chip. What can we offer orlando for them to even be remotely interest?

Maybe Morey is trying get fire.

He couldn't even get more than one chip? Do they sell bags of chip in Canada?

(fyi, a lotto pick for a historically lotto-bound team isn't a bag of chip)

Which part of the fact that this pick was acquired to send to Orlando are you folks not understanding? It literally does not MATTER where the pick falls. In fact, once we trade it, here's hoping Lowry makes them a lot better, and Orlando ends up with the 14th pick.

This is why Morey didn't WANT to get more back from Toronto. They were not going to give us more picks, and we didn't want to take back any contracts, since we are going to end up having to just release some guys anyway, especially after doing the deal with the Magic to get Howard.

We got their #1, and the guy Forbes on the cheap, AND 4.25 million in cap space. So we end up with some potential depth at the 2, and a much better chip to deal for Howard, and more cap flexibility to absorb Hedo and/or Richardson from Orlando. And all for a pretty good PG who was going to be a poison on the team until we got rid of him?

So yeah, we will need to find another PG or two, as the probability is that Lin stays in NY. But if you should have learned anything about DM by now, it is that he can pretty much manufacture good PG's seemingly out of thin air, so there is no reason to be pulling your hair out about it now.

If you guys are not understanding how this is a huge win for the Rockets, then CF has gone WAY down hill.

Why does realgm still say we will get at least 1 first round pick? Is there more than 1 pick involved??

you are assuming a trade with orlando is certain. It is not. While I agree that the lowry trade was done to add to our cache of assets for a potential orlando trade, the fact remains that it may not happen; in which case, the evaluation of the pick means something to us because we have a good chance of being stuck with it.

If they can't land Dwight Morey will move onto his next star option and that pick still has the same relative trade value the next time around.

I trust all you tanking proponents will be filling up Toyota Center to see the 9-31 Houston Rockets halfway through next season, right?

That's a fair point, but some of you act as though you are not taking the possibility into consideration AT ALL, when that is clearly, by his own words, exactly what he is TRYING to do, so at the very least, all of you guys wailing about how dumb Morey was for not 'getting more for Lowry' should consider the facts of the situation before continuing with the constant criticism as though that was not what he was doing.

look, i think chasing drama dwight's bad back is a bad idea. But i am not a Morey hater. Please don't lump me in with the crazies. As you said, this deal was motivated out of accumulating as many assets as possible to get drama dwight. I wish he would have gotten more for Lowry, but I'm not talking to other GMs, so i don;t know what else was out there. I also fault Lowry for going public and hurting our bargaining position. So we can agree to disagree on whether or not this was a good deal for Houston. I don;'t think it was, but if it helps land us drama dwight i;m sure the consensus will be that it was a good deal.

Its time to give up on Dwight.

Had we gotten him with a strong surround cast, maybe we could have convinced him to sign.

But now we lost Dragic/Lowry/Lee and there is a good chance Scola+Martin are next, Howard+nothing would not make much noise, especially out West. If we give up our few assets for him, he will walk, and it will be a major mistake.

Personally, I'm excited about the future as is.

We are off the mediocrity treadmill. It was ridiculously difficult watching us fight for a playoff seed.

We have some nice young prospects (Lamb seems very interesting), two lottery picks and a ton of capspace going forward. It is a beautiful situation. Next 2-3 seasons may be ugly but this team finally has a legit shot at building a real contender.

I really believe Dwight was Plan A and that this current situation was Plan B. It may not look pretty but this team is MUCH better off.

If we can convince PHX to do an S+T for Dragic as well as whomever to do an S+T for Lee and get more assets, that would be MONEY.

I like how everyone wanted to tank and blow up the team, and now that we're doing that everyone's unhappy.

Offhand, it seems to me that Lowry might be worth more than what we got back. However, for our position, we got back what we put into the deal. I don't know about this Forbes guy, but his contract isn't very big, anyhow. We got cap space and an excellent pick. $4.5 million in space is half of a very good player, right there. And, the way the pick is structured, it might be the equivalent of 2-3 first-round picks. A pick ordinarily comes with, say, top-8 protection, meaning we are prevented from getting a very high pick. This is kind of the opposite. Not only does it have little protection, it is almost certainly a lottery pick, with a pretty good chance of being in the top 10.

But yeah, it seems to suck as far as its impact on this upcoming season.
