The Game is one of the best in rap right now imo but he's nowhere near the level of 2Pac or Biggie. His first album is one of my favorite albums in the collection though. If I absolutely had to name a rapper closest to reaching 2Pac or Biggie status right now it would be Lil Wayne.
One Blood is a good song. I like The Game as a talent, he's got good delivery and decent lyrics. "Dreams" is another one of his that I like. However, he's far from even being the best rapper around. Chamillionaire and T.I. are some of the better 'commercial' rappers out there: good lyrics, creative beats, and good delivery. So 'The Game' isn't bad, just not 'great' and no way should comparisons to greats like Tupac already be 'fair game'. I prefer Lupe Fiasco myself, but I understand that's not considered 'commercial'.
Umm...when he puts a coherent/complete sentence together, let me know. He has nice beats and is one of those artists you can 'dance' to. But his rhymes lack content/purpose for the most part.
Chamillionaire? T.I.? Luda? at Pac's level...hahaha...sorry I had to laugh b/c you cannot be serious. They are all gifted, but never say anything meaningful in their albums. I heard a Luda interview where he talked about this being a deep album and then his first single is "shake ur $ maker", very deep indeed. Game had a very good first album. He needs to come out with more material to be considered great though. IMO no-one will come to Pac and Biggie's level b/c those are once in a lifetime artists. Pac flowed about life in such a poetic way and did it so easily. These rappers today fabricate material to please record execs and fool masses by trying to put out catchy singles.
no question... lupe is off the charts as far as lyrics are concerned. "word of mouth" or underground (what he's gotten) will put him up there to a certain extent. but like i've said time and time before... lupe's style is too reminenscent (i know that's spelled wrong) of early to mid 90's new york hiphop and it still hasn't caught on unfortunatlely. i'm not sure that it will commercial wise... ever. lupe, kanye, wu-tang, nas, and even biggie were too far ahead of their times "lyrically" to do anything commercial... well... except biggie. to me, it seems that luda is the best thing out there. i'm still jamin' "the number one spot". classic without a doubt.
The thing about luda is that he's easily the most consistent rapper out there right now. His worst album was Chicken N Beer and there's still some really good songs on that one. That said though, I still can't see putting him up there with Pac and Big.
No One from houston can run with game thats crazy first off im not gonna even mention SCARFACE because game isnt even in that zone but there are plenty of rappers from houston that can crush game and if he is taking aim at atlanta i think Luda will hurt his feelings and make him go back to reality shows this dude is fake with good beats and hooks
Kanye West is the greatest rapper alive. Theres only so many songs you can do dissing people, saying how your bringing california back, and talking about your time in G-unit.
damn... that sounds good right now. chicken n beer. the only thing that would be better is chicken, beer, grits, bacon, and chitlins with hot sauce. mmmmm.... heaven on earth. the reasoning behind this thread was "potential". who is the last west coast rapper since pac to make it big? who is the last west coast rapper to be as lyrically talented as pac since "the game"? cube? pac? wc and the mad circle (yeah... right). xihbit (sp?) ? no. the guy has a talent. no one in the west coat besides him has stepped up for the taking. i'm not sure that anyone from the west coast could take him. potential is what i was trying to say... even though it may be eddie griffin "potential". edit... luda is the most consistent rapper out today. hit after hit after hit after hit after hit. bar none... my fav rapper. commercial, but talented as heck.
i was thinking about this today while i was listening to "money maker". Like, all his songs that gets air play sounds alike...not in the sense that it's always about the same thing but just production and consistency wise. I'm not knockin on it at all because I'll listen to "southern hospitality" even to this day...just pointing it out (after the you and others) i guess...maybe i'm just shocked at his longevity as a rapper. Heck, I thought 50 was gonna be around for a while, but that dude just fell off as fast as he got on.
somehow or another i knew that this thread would turn into a luda thread. the dude is consistent... whether it's being a "feature" on someone else's album (missy, jamie foxx, or what's her name from "disturbin' the peace"... is it shawna with "gettin' some head"? or coming out with a few "number one spots". game v. jay z or luda. the west is way too big and no one has stepped to the forefront except "the game". and... he seems more lyrically talentend that anyone from that territory since... ummmm... i dunno. he just seems to have a passion for it... moreso than making money (errr... 50).
Man what's up with all the Lil Wayne hate. His flow is sick and he's one of the more creative rappers out there today. Plus he's only 23 or somewhere in that neighborhood. I didn't say he was anywhere close to Big or Pac yet, I just said I think he has the most potential out of any rappers today to reaching that status.
because that effer went out and hired a phocking orchestra for the beat of his first single of his comeback. wtf? are you damien from the omen or something? beeyotch... you're not deserving. no one else was there to pick up biggie's/tupac's reign when they died. lame phocking primadonna (sp?). if you're gonna try to pick up the slack, don't change your style and be unoriginal. phock jay z.
