I don't need to read through this entire thread of bull**** to say that the original post is delusional. It takes longer to get from 59 to West Gray going north on Shepherd, than it does to GET to Shepherd & 59 from Beltway 8. Street traffic is still traffic.
You people in cars and trucks make me sick with your complaints about the traffic. Its all about the METRO-niters and the LightRailers. Check yo self...in the Park and Ride foolz. Represent!!! Holla!!!
What is so bad about cookie cutter homes, Walgreens and Home Depots? These home builders build large number of homes at relatively cheap prices. So is it better to live in a city like New York where there are endless tall condos and aparments?
No, it's better to live in Austin because, as we all know, there are no cookie cutter homes, Walgreens or Home Depots in Austin...
if only the city had some foresight to put up a train system...and sorry, but the light rail doesnt cut it
i like mayo. but build a sandwich with jalapenos, kielbasy, fried chicken, hummus and egg foo young, piled high on challah bread, and you got the 718. ^the 718's version of white bread + mayo
Wait a minute... A 281er -- in Kingwood, no less -- calling out Austin? In a thread about the glories of being a 713er? the futants faints...
Nope, I just get tired of the Austin snobs (one in particular, not you) always chiming in with the "Houston sucks because it has strip malls and freeways" argument, as if Austin doesn't have any of these things. Every time I visit Austin, it has more freeway construction and strip malls than it did before. It looks more and more like Houston every time I visit.
The funny thing is...it actually looks more and more like Kingwood every time you visit. [edit: I'm actually going to be in Kingwood this weekend. Is there any new place to drink beer? Molly's is pretty depressing.]
