Hayesfan, I am surprised that post didn't have the words most people use incorrectly or just don't know how to use: "youre", "your", "you're", "their", "there", and "they're." :D

It bugs me too, and I guarantee that anyone who says "Get over it. It's a message board!", has something just as insignificant in their life that bugs them too.

By the way, "toward" is actually more correct than "towards", unless the poster happens to be British.

Just from this post alone, it seems you have a much better grasp of English than a lot of people on this board.

I agree that on a forum such as this, (or any chatting program, myspace, facebook, etc) perfect spelling, grammar, and punctuation is not entirely necessary. If you are are in a colloquial setting, then its your prerogative to type the way you want. Just realize that if you "txt" type and/or disregard grammar and spelling, some people will think you're an idiot.

I proof my posts before hitting submit (most of the time). I have an education, and I generally like to use it. Call me crazy...

    [/thread]

I always glance at my post before submitting to see how many green and red lines there are....as anyone in chat will tell you, I actually am a HORRIBLE typer when I don't have time to proof-read my posts.

another thing I do that I'm sure irritates people is the constant use of "....." and my constant lack of apostrophes....they just slow me down.

    HayesFan......did you forget where #hr is? :p

I have one thing to say and I hope its not taken to seriously, I'm not surprised this thread was started by a woman.

Other than that, I'm a notorious bad speller. I have noticed recently that safari does do the spelling check while typing, at home I will use that from now on.

You are likely from the School of Thought that believes putting together a solid presentation helps persuade others to your Point of View.

I only have "red" lines on misspelled words on FireFox. How do you get the green ones?

    Fixed. ;)
It's actually supposed to be three dots only for the ellipsis, not four. Rocket River's posts are unique in that he does two dots then a carriage return, three sometimes, and you do four... and I don't know why or who taught you that...

I type a lot of my posts (the ones that aren’t stupid one-liners) on a word document and paste them onto the bbs. The advantages of this method are two-fold:

    1. Word corrects all my spelling and punctuation errors (actually, it just corrected the word ‘punctuation’)
    2. I use Word for 75% of my work, so if anyone walks up behind me, it looks like I’m working when I’m really posting on Clutchfans.

Seriously, if you post from work as much as I do (and LORD KNOWS that's a lot...), you should try this. It works like a charm.

The funny thing is that the word "grammar" is misspelled at least twice in this very thread.

Don't you get a lot of unwanted/wrong corrections?

Very bad grammar can be annoying when it impedes your ability to understand the poster. But, it is probably not as annoying as posts or threads chiding others for their poor grammar. It strikes me as mildly rude to reproach someone for either their lack of education or their lack of care.

No, but every time I went in there no one was around!

I started back to school last week after a long hiatus (which may be why trying to read those posts threw me into a rant) so I have been doing the - class, work, class, homework, sleep route (of course that doesn't stop me from posting here)

Doesn't it drive you crazy when people use a ton of parenthetical phrases that they shouldn't bother to post if they didn't want you to read it??

    :)

I will come see yall tomorrow in #hr. Someone better be there to keep me company!!
