    same here.

I bought the regular service. Then I bought a 60' HDTV and when I asked to get a HD receiver they said $199

DirecTV does similar things, with offering perks to new customers. But what I love about them is every single time I've called to b**** about it, they've gone above and beyond to hook me up. A couple years ago I wanted an HD-Tivo, which at the time was going for around $500. I eventually talked them down to the point that I got the Tivo for $50 plus free HBO and the HD Package for 6 months. This year I wanted the latest and greatest HD DVR, and without too much work was able to get them to give it to me for free! Persistence is key. :)

does anyone have the "illegal" card that you can buy online and get all channels for free. supposedly all you have to pay for is the very basic service plan....

I had DISH network for a while and it sucked.

    Overpriced and horrendously flakey.

HD Antenna is short for HayDee Antenna. The technology was originally invented in Haiti (hence the HayDee moniker) and then brough over to the U.S. in the late 80's by the original inventor (ex sugar cane farmer) where it was refined at Philips' Virginia laboratories.

The antenna works best in warm weather, and is excellent for picking up Carribean channels which broadcast on the HayDee Satellite. To gte it installed, you have to be referred by a person of West Indies origin as they are a very close knit group.

Good luck with your HD atenna, I got one last year and it's been a real eye opening experience checking out the Trinidad channels :)

LOL! Ok onto a more serious answer...

It's a antenna that plugs into your tv like a regular antenna, and when you autoprogram your tv, it'll pick up fully digital HD signals from your local stations. Like right now I can see a few shows on NBA, ABC, and FOX I think in HD. Pretty cool for so cheap. Circuit City has one like $10, works wonders. Worlds better then the $60 one I bought from RadioShack.
