What, Yeah. The AT&T bill is screwed up as well. They have an extra line on there and the account is in my name instead of my wife's, so her employee discount isnt being applied. They say it takes 60 days before you can transfer the account holders name. I understand all that about prepaying a month upfront and stuff. I just want the 3rd number removed and the discount applied. I will happily pay if that can happen. I feel like if it doesn't right now it never will Do you know of a good number to call. We've called twice and nobody can seem to fix it Dealing with cell phone companies make buying a car seem painless
Generally people do this because they want to get rid of a number or consolidate a used number (see: lower the number of lines), but the problem is that at&t won't allow you to replace an existing number that is already bound by a contract WITHOUT paying the ETF. If the 3rd number you are talking about isn't a new number but under a preexisting contract. That contract must be fulfilled so porting a number and then transferring onto and replacing an existing att number WILL NOT get you out of an ETF unfortunately. As far as the 60 day rule, I actually think that you can avoid that since this is a new port. I would call in and speak to the porting dept about that. Don't talk to customer service as they can't do that anyway. As for losing that 3rd number, if it is under contract you will have to pay etf regardless.
Because we wanted new iPhones and our old 3g's on tmobile were crapping out and it was slow. I knew from previous experience that AT&T is a beatdowns but have forgotten how bad it is. What, that 3rd number is just something that came out of nowhere. We only ported over two numbers. This third is a mystery
Okay, I got it now. I knew exactly what you are talking about. Take a look at your bill, and find the 3rd number. The reason it is listed there on your bill is that it is the temporary number that they gave you while your port was being completed. The reason why they did not remove it from the bill is because it contains your activation fee. If you look at the charges for that number it should be around 26 or 36 dollars or something like that. HOWEVER, if you get an unsavvy rep on the phone you might be able to convince them that this is a mistake. It isn't it is just that your activation fee is charged at the point you signed up for service and at that time your ported number wasn't with att just yet. Hope this helps.
