If Hakeem Olajuwon was asked which one he would choose: 1. Lead Nigeria soccer team to win one World Cup 2. Lead Rockets to win NBA final twice. What would be his answer? I guess his answer would. hurt your feeling.
are you lecturing me about my level of personal sports pain. what you are saying is since my mom is American, I can't know your pain.
After seeing France lose in the World Cup Finals to the FRIGGEN Italians and then seeing the Rockets lose to the FRIGGEN Jazz, I can say the two equally suck.
Let the soccer worshippers drown in their own problems. I don't see why any sporting event EVER should cause people to be violent against one another. It's not like you personally had jack crap to do with the outcome, yet soccer is as personal as it gets in a lot of countries. It's like a drug addiction. People shouldn't let a drug, a game, or anything control them. Many people are slaves to cigarettes, or alcohol. Be your own master, soccer fanatics! Something is wrong with the world. Maybe some people need to get a hobby or two....or the freedom to enjoy a hobby...either way.
ok, gloves off. soccer fan has a nationalist chip on his shoulder. anyone who chimes in when a fellow sports fan is in pain to tell them "you can't possibly understand [because you are American]" is a stupid foreigner with a chip on their shoulder. No need to rationalize their utterly clear old world nationalism.
That's nonsense. I don't know what exactly soccer fan said to you, but basically, it's the sheer amount of people that makes the difference. Soccer is like a religion in some countries, and no matter how divided a country may be, the whole country unites behind the national soccer team. Nothing to do with old world nationalism, it's simply a fact. And when the whole nation of Brazil is in despair because their team went out, it's a different dimension than us Rockets fans being sad/angry/heart-broken/pissed off because our team lost. That doesn't diminish the individual's grief, it might be the same from the standpoint of the individual fan, but a whole nation being in despair is different from a single team's fans being in despair.
yet another soccer fan who doesn't have a friggin clue how insulting soccer fan's comments were. When / where did I EVER say anything about one sport against the other. I'm talking about personal, individual pain! what? you think your personal pain is bigger that my personal pain? y'all soccer fans need to get your chip off your shoulder. I am NOT talking about what sport is bigger...hell, the NBA is probably only the 3rd biggest sport in the USA. I'm talking about NO American would EVER say to a foreigner in pain what soccer fan released before I even took my hand off my eyes. unbelievabe what obnoxios soccer fan foreigners with chips on their shoulder are capable of.
hey Sir Jackie Chiles, btw: nice to chat with you again. I don't think I've seen you write a big response like that to me before. I'm bbq'ing for a big party today. tending the smoker. looking for sumpin to do on the bbs. don't mind me. I apologize if my last post came out sounding like a personal attack on you. it's not. it's all fun. you friggin foreigner soccer, Nitwitz fan!
Your xenophobia aside, it's funny that the stupid foreigner knows how to spell obnoxious while you do not. I get your point that one fan should not tell another fan that his own feelings are stronger than the other fan's, on an individual level. As I said, I agreed with that. No disagreement there, and if you had been able to express yourself more clearly from the beginning, you might have been able to avoid your anger issues here. Edit: I typed my post before I read your last post. Even when I sound like I am sniping at you or anyone else, it's always just in fun, so no hard feelings .
The dude is right. I know what he's saying. They are saying we can't understand the same pain because its not about country and race and all that baloney, thats bull****, that'd piss me off. Comparing pain, "oh well my pains greater because..." Oh really. See that pisses me off. Props to you partner for restraining yourself I'm still in pain, thinking about a few more defensive rebounds, one of those gdamn lucky three pointers not bouncing in. arrrgh...they tell me my level of pain is petty compared to theirs....oh no, i guess we'd have to do what we got to do...Texas style.
heyp is the real deal. Anyone who lets people from the internets into their home in the name of fandom is legit.
At least none of you have to suffer this agony. Favourite Basketball Team: Houston Rockets - lost in the first round of the playoffs (2006/2007). Favourite Club Soccer Team: Manchester United - lost by a sissy goal and blind referee (I am being biased) in the FA Cup final (2006/2007). Favourite Country Soccer Club:France (since Platini days) - lost by sissy penalties in the World Cup Final (2006). Only consolation I can get is: i) Man U winning premier league. ii) Mavericks lost in the first round playoffs too, LOL!!!
I hate Soccer there's more pain in just WATCHING a slow-ass game where maybe 1-2 goals is (scored in a good game) than the actual losing part. I've been railing against the scary notions that soccer is increasing its popularity here in Australia. Screw that stupid sport.
Sports pain is when your team is up 35-3 and halftime and loses 41-38. Sports pain is when Karl Malone bear hugs Drexler and Stockton pops open for a game winning 3. Sports pain watching your favorite team/teams make mistake after mistake on draft day....Tell me I dont know about sports pain.
Well.. i'm a Rockets fan for almost 10 years but a Manchester United fan for 17 years and i can tell you that fans of football are a lot more passionate as compared to Basketball fans... Its really poles apart. Football is more than just following your team based on geographical proximity or the likes. Its almost like a religion to most. The Scottish team of Celtic and Rangers hates each other to the core due to religions reasons, being Catholics and Protestants respectively. Football in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland requires no explanation. Violence in the stands occurs frequently when the likes of Boca Juniors plays River Plate in Argentina, or the fervent fans of Galatassaray hosts Fenerberche in Turkey.. Even Football at times are being influenced by politics when England plays Argentina or by history when England plays Scotland... I don't even have to talk about the World Cup when clubs rivalry far outweights what you can ever find in the NBA... You Americans doesn't follow football, and thus the views may be a little limited or myopic, cos the views are being measured with the MLS as reference, and its really ridiculous..
Country > City. Just a fact. If Houston is wiped out from earth and all houstonians except you died, or America is wiped from earth and all Americans died, which one makes you sadder ? Easy answer.
I love soccer, it doesn't mean I don't like bball. They are two lovers that I don't tell one about the other.
