I'm not worried about that one too much as I think things like that mostly even out... I thought Scola got a non-call for traveling on his last second shot against the Nets. What does have me concerned is that the refs do not call Yao fairly... he's sort of the anti-Shaq in terms of calls. Where Shaq gets away with stuff, Yao is called for phantom transgressions. They really need to do a better job next year.
It's been this way for a very long time. We can rant all we want, but it's not going to change the way the game is called, unless we have a new commish willing to do something.
Ref's should be fined and punished for missed calls or wrong calls. I hardly ever see a referee be fined or suspended for a missed call. If this was an 8-5 job most of these goons would have been fired already. Last night was horrible officiating and i witness that with my own eyes. Chuncy Billups should have been given a technical for walking off the court so slow after his 3rd or 4rth fould (not to sure). He wasnt given one because of his rep.
That's just not going to happen unless the ref's agenda differs from the front office people (Stern & Co.).
If you think the officiating is bad now, wait until Yao comes back. They stoop to new lows when calling games with Yao in them.
I agree that refs should be held accountable and should be replaced if they continually miss calls or make incorrect calls. However, fining refs for making bad calls is about as stupid as fining players for missing free throws.
