Without the 80's, we wouldn't have 80's night at clubs. This is crucial. Why? I like going out to clubs, preferably clubs that play house, d&b, lounge, etc. But what do my friends and 90% of the population like? Going to clubs that play top 40/generic rap crap. People grinding like they're Yao posting on Shaq, or people trying to look 'hard' and ramming their shoulders into people left and right while walking through a crowd beause they 'don't take crap from anyone'. People posing w/ sunglasses in a dark nightclub pretending that they can actually see. Chapelle's sketch is so spot on about clubbing. So maybe once in a blue moon I convince everyone to take a chance and do my kind of thing, but most of the time we head to the poseur convention. But an 80's night? Ahhh. People dancing like idiots on purpose. Time to 'shake out the sillies'. (Newsradio reference anyone?) Everyone singing along to Whip It by Devo. No one is embarrased to shake it to Bon Jovi for 4 minutes. Everyone raising their hands the second the beat from Don't Stop Till You Get Enough by Michael Jackson comes on. No one taking themselves seriously. Because WHO CARES WTF IT'S JUST A NIGHT OF CLUBBING NO ONE CARES WHO YOU ARE AND NO ONE IS PAYING ATTENTION TO YOU SO STOP THE ACT. Ahem...quite the tangent, huh? [end of rant]
1) Quit lumping all music released in the 80s with that synth pop crap The underground scene was the bright spot of the 80s, eventho I am tempted to argue just how underground it was considering the two styles of music you saw most frequently on MTV in the mid 80s was metal and Micheal Jackson. 2) autoplaying videos in a thread DOES suck. could I politely ask you to quit it Meow?
I have to agree. i lost access to ESPN.com because of their stupid autoplay videos. my company thought i was launching them and eating up bandwidth, so they blocked the site
then would it be too much to ask that you ifnd something else to irritate him with that doesnt affect the rest of us? Imnot on dialup right now, but out at our remote location I am, and it isnt the good kind of dialup either...its 28.8 embedded stuff KILLS the reading experience.
much appreciated amigo I almost didnt click on the last post button cause I didnt want to be blasted with Hammer again....so thanks for editing that. now you boys feel free to b**** at each other and whatnot, just remember that you arent the only kids in the playroom.
But wouldn't a 90's night be better where they play Trent Reznor and Smashing Pumpkins and no one has to dance like an idiot because they are too depressed. Plus girls will sleep with you because, whatever...its better than facing the hell that is life.
I did not, but I havent checked my email in a day or so did you send it to the earthlink addy or one of the others?
Yeah, it was the Earthlink addy. Oh, and to the other part of this thread, reread it. I may have been blunt, but it wasn't the first time Meowgi had done it, so I was getting annoyed.
I was a club junkie too. First time was at 15 when I got into Lizard Lounge. That led to Club Therapy, Power Tools, Red Square, 6400, XCess, Club AM, NRG (first unisex bathroom I'd ever seen), Beejay's, Energy's, Ocean Club, Cars (the one in Galveston RAWKD!) Bayou Momma's, Pete's Wildlife... STUPID THREAD! IT MAKES ME DEPRESSED!! I WANT A WAY BACK MACHINE!!!
Oh yeah a 90's night w/ those types of songs would rock, so to speak. Those were my more formative years anyways. Someone get this thing going. Is the flannel shirt and gas station attendant uniform look coming back anytime soon?
My first club experience was also at 15, getting into Cardi's (I think it was). Anyway, it was some sucky rocker club. From there it was mostly Rich's, Power Tools, and #s, with Rich's being my favorite. One of my fondest memories is dancing till close at Power Tools with my friends Sherri and Lisa, then jumping the fence at West U pool across from Sherri's house and going skinny dipping. I was probably 16 at the time so this was like '85. Damn Sishir! I don't know what you're b****in about. The '80's were awesome.
