Sishir, I have that year book and I've been meaning to ask you if that was a Member's Only jacket.

dont be scared, revel in the fact that you are familiar with the most played English song in Asian karaokes in the 80's.

Depeche Mode is one of those 80's monstrosities.

In case you haven't figured out I'm not your typical Asian male.
No I take that back. I drive a Honda and don't like JVG so I guess I am. ;)

Not so fast there. I've been to Thailand. :p

I think they were one of hte bands who used their synths in different and innovative ways. The layers they used were complicated, and took a song crafting talent of its own. In addition they managed to have catchy melodies.

There are definitely times when they crossed the line and just get too sappy for anybody's good. But at least some of the time they themselves joked about it in their music.

You might be thinking of my Junior picture. ;) The one I'm talking about is a Miami Vice jacket with skinny tie loosely done and the shirt isn't buttoned at the top. To top it off I had one of those spiky mullett hair cuts.

The 80's was mostly a glam decade. Talent judged by face value. I don't recall any artists of the 80's moving me with their lyrics.

The women were hot, but had too much make-up.

I tend to side with you, but not quite as passionately. There were some very incredible things that took place in the 80's. Just nothing that revolved around the 80's culture. Most of the music reminded me of times when I was screwed up or in trouble or the woman I was once with, but never actually with.

Anyways... I don't like to be overcharged with 80's either. I tend to jump from Pink Floyd to Alice in chains where most of their best work was outside of the 80's.

If you had the sleeves of your sports coat rolled up to the forearm, you were very cool.

In the 80's I never actually owned a members only jacket, or anything miami vice oriented, though I did have a skinny tie. I had only a couple of Polo shirts. I did wear top-siders, and boat shoes.

But I appreciated all that stuff, some of it in the same way I appreciate it now, but the Members only jacket I always wanted but my parents would never buy it for me.

There was also a lot of plaid in the 80's. I love plaid.

3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine was legal until 1985. one could still locate the chemical until about 1989 (with determination and lots of cash). so, no, the 80s didn't suck.

How dare you question my Asianness!

Don't make me use my Asian superpowers on you.

Of your wife? I think that might be against CF.net protocal. ;) ;)

I've got a bunch of Thailand pics but none of Ladyboys, that I know of. They are pretty convincing.

The 80's is glorified mainly because 90's pop culture sucked so completely.

80's music was worlds better than the crap that became popular in the 90's.

I found out later that Houston was kind of unique in this way from '85 to around '89. At the time I thought everybody was having that much fun.

You think Ratt and Motley Crue was better than Nirvana and Pearl Jam?

The first thought that came to my mind when I read this was "Joe King Corasco".
