Does that really work? I mean, what is the age they can choose to live somewhere else? Is it in the Family Code?

how was the AG punishing you? seems you got an immediate response and resolution to the problem that is more a result of your ex than the state AG office. :)

Gov't screw-ups happen all the time. Frequently before long weekends so you can stew over it while the offices are closed!

But you're dead on here. I hope your relationship with your ex improves. But this kind of stuff makes it more difficult.

    Good luck FT

This kind of sh** makes me terrified of committed relationships or getting married. thanks.

    Good luck anyhow.

Man, I really hope when your son grows older he sees for himself what's going on. I'm sure she's feeding him her version of everything right now.

If I hadn't responded (if I hadn't seen the notice or it got lost in mail...it wasn't sent certified) , I would have been reported to the credit agency, been listed as a deadbeat dad, warrant out for my arrest. The mistake did come a lack of comunication between the AG's office and the County Clerk, whom the AG's office assigned to collect the payment out of my payroll. I had to take a few day's off of work to rectify the situation before my check was docked an extra $500.00 for arrears. I've gone by the book on my side of the CS, but I have to go in and clear up the mess the AG's office and county clerk created. I got an immediate response because I went in and demanded answers. Not because they caught their own mistake.

At 12, the child is of age to decide which parent to live with. I have seen it in the code. When it gets closer, I'll find out all the details.

Don;t fear marriage. Don;t even fear divorce. It's the family code that causes these problems that stem from divorce when a child is involved.

I'll be dealing with this too. My stepson asks us all the time "when do I get to decide?" He's ready now...it sucks! He's 10 so we don't have that long to wait. But I have heard it's not as easy as him just saying it and it happening. Your ex can still make it difficult.

Well, I'm glad to hear the situation worked out or on its way toward being worked out.

    Time to revisit this.

It turns out that everything was NOT ok. The idiot case worker could not find $1,000 in medical payments, and the AG was going to garnish more money from my check. The last time I spoke to her, she assured me she had cleared up her mess. After I found out that they hadn't, I asked to speak to her supervisor and he simply had my ex sign an affadavit that I was up to date on my payments. Everything should have been fixed at that point. Right? WRONG!!!

Although my file shows no arrears being owed on child support OR medical, the AG's office still garnishes an additional $25.00 out of my account for past medical owed. WHAT??! Now, $25.00 is really no big deal, and at that point, it's the principal of the matter. I call the AG and they assure me that they will fax the final correction to my work resetting my cs to what it was originally. Then I ask about the $25.00. They tell me that it will be put into a credit to me in case I don't make a payment. WHAT!!!! I tell them that I want my money back, and I go into a rant, which of course, I'm sure they ignored. What gets me is if they screwed up to the tune of $300 like they had originally, I would have been out that money, and it would be credited to me IF I missed a payment (which I never have).

This is such a headache, and getting through the phone system to speak to anyone is a complete other rant.

The kicker is this. My wife gets a call from the AG's office and they ask her if she wants to close the case on her ex who owes over $75,000 in arrears and penalties, since her son is over 18. So, they protect the deadbeat dad, and persecute me.

HAha!!! Remember that $25.00 that I wanted back? Well, the AG office contacted my ex and told her that I wanted to be repayed $900.00.

Has anyone seen the movie "Payback", with Mel Gibson. All I want is my $25.00, and the AG office simply can't get it right.

    Morons!
