I live in Colorado and I will wear flip flops to just above 40 degrees most of the time. What pisses me off is when it gets to be -10 and douchebags wear flip-flops.

I love flip flops. I always wear them whenever I can get away from it in terms of setting (basically not work or anywhere formal).

I'll wear flip-flops until it's so cold I just can't wear them anymore... my threshold is probably around 40 degrees, when it's that cold I'll still wear them and wear maybe jeans and a hoody.

I like them just because they're comfortable for my feet. Feet aren't really meant to be cooped up in enclosed spaces. A lot of people have narrower feet than they should because they're wearing shoes all the time. They also take no effort to put on and take off. I also find I have a much better feel for the gas/break when driving if I do it barefoot (which I believe is illegal, but who cares)...

I drive a stick and it took a little while to get used to. I really don't notice it anymore. I'm not sure what everyone wears but I have a few leather flip flops.

It's perfect weather during the day to wear flip flops, but it has been a bit chilly at night lately.

I wear flip flops all the time. Even when it's cold because I only need to keep my upper half warm for me to stay warm. I'll happily wear flip flops with shorts while wearing a sweatshirt or a hoodie something.

And some of you say you can't drive with flip flops? Wtf.

I graduate in May and I'll be wearing my damn flip flops along with my cap and gown and I'll be happy doing it.

I moved up here to Nebraska about seven years ago. No car thermostat all year round. My John Stossel-inspired instinct is that cold weather has less to do with flus and illness than close contact with other infected peoples. And that the sniffles and other palliative issues are responses to drastic temperature changes, like leaving a 75 degree heated car to walk into 30-40 degree weather. And unless there's falling or uncleared snow, sandals all the time. Other than Tokyo Drifting after the first snowfall, or trying to brake at an intersection on a downward incline, strongly prefer Winter to any other season.

I think the belief is that since it is cold, people tend to go out less and stay inside, hence be in constant close contact with one another. This is why it spreads like crazy in schools/among kids. So cold indirectly may promote the propagation of colds and flus.

These are much more comfortable than flip flops:

I don't know if I would go as far as calling a guy a "douchebag" for wearing crocs but on pink ones, maybe. I'm sure no one will be surprised that when I was asked if I wanted crocs that I pretty much said that if you buy them, they are going to go in the garbage can. :D

Its a little cold this morning, but I wore my slip-on sandals anyway. Oh god I hope it warms up soon before someone calls me a douche...

I don't wear flip-flops just because they are too much work to walk in. It's like I have to constantly squeeze my toes in to keep them from flying off when I walk. Plus, they are kind of loud and I don't like to draw attention to myself.

But I DO wear 'man-dles' like these:

I have no idea if I'm pissing anyone off when I wear them when it's cold, but I really don't care.

But I did have to laugh at the people on the bus this morning (in Houston...) who were bundled up like there was a winter storm warning or something. Seriously...it's frickin' 55 degrees out there, not 25.

i'd be more upset with actually wearing flip-flops to church, not just wearing flip flops in under 50 degree weather.

Those are the exact kind of sandles I wear. Incredibly comfortable, they don't "flop" as much as flip flops and I prefer not to have a strap between my toes.

You're right. You shouldn't care what others are wearing. Its a waste of caring.

My church had a minister who wore sandals like these. So, he'd have his black ministerial robe, white shirt, tie, and -- sticking out the bottom -- a pair of sandals. Of course, he's not there anymore, so maybe they weren't so okay.

Anyway, on subject. (1) Kids don't feel hot and cold like normal people, I think. Grown-ups were always getting on my case for not being dressed for the weather, summer and winter. (2) Weather is the last consideration when women get dressed. If a girl wants to attract a foot fetishist, cold weather won't get in her way.
