Well my wife has asthma and just breathing in cold air without a jacket or coat will trigger an attack for her. My 9 year old had bronchitis AND pneumonia at the same time last year and the temps were around 50 or so. So be amused all you want but I would rather take the safe route and have people like you laugh then have to deal with them getting sick and having to pay copays and drugs out the ass.

Haha, if that does happen, jo - I'll play "In Ribbons" in its entirety while you are recuperating. ;)

And I realize it is an odd thing to be peeved about and it is very Seinfeldian, yet as I said earlier I can't quite understand why it bothers me like it does.

Maybe it is the whooshing sound that is made when people walk by that have flip flops on or the fact that they might as well be walking around bare-footed, I dunno.

And to clarify, I understand why kids like to wear them - what I don't understand is why their parents let them get away with it.

And don't try to tell me that after experiencing several months of 75+ degree temperature, that 44 isn't cold -puhleaze, every one of you (for the most part) would complain about it.

With the run of threads that have been popping up lately that seem to be random thoughts out of people's heads, I felt I was due to have one - call it my mulligan thread, to speak.

It isn't any worse than the time that BrianKagy complained about umbrellas - the only difference is that I am not as funny as he is.

Flip flops=laziness, IMO. I have nothing against laziness though. Personally, I feel tacky if I wear them anywhere other than the beach/pool or to get a pedicure, in any weather. Guys in flip flops or sandals freak me out. I hate feet, especially mens'. Going to Astros games gives me nightmares.

Its the Uggs in 85+ temperatures that tend to bother me on first glance. But then I figure, they're going somewhere that keeps the A/C running high. Or I realize that I shouldn't care what anyone else is wearing....:p

Now this is my pet peeve. I hate it when Girls wear basketball shoes. I even hate most other athletic shoes for that matter. Unless you're at work or exercising why would you do that?? It makes girls look bad ughhh. Especially when the shoes are black. It's gross, yo...

Willing to bet...outside of work...that I wear my sandals/flip flops about 75% of the time, church and cold weather included.

To the people that may judge me based on what I wear to church, I respond by saying I feel completely comfortable and ok with wearing what I wear to mass every Sunday and I don't feel like I'm disrespecting God in any way. So I could care less really what other people think.

To the people that think it's crazy I wear sandals in 50 degree weather or less, I say I like the cold.

Manny. I think you hate it when other people wear fip flops because you have ugly feet and you aren't able to pull it off. Am I warm? Are you feet and toenails unattractive?

I used to be the biggest foot-phobe ever. Feet, toes, nails, dirty and disgusting imagery of human's beastial side. But its irrational. Sneakers and tennis shoes have existed for what, 100 years? Foot covering footwear has been the rarity, not the norm.

I've never owned a pair of sandals or flip flops or myself, besides in childhood when my mom tried to buy them for me. Which after 5 weeks I abandoned for good. Stable foot support over natural foot movement I guess.

Flip flops do attract a LOT of bacteria, is another thing that keeps me from getting them.

I agree completely with this rant. Doesn't make sense at all.

Flip flops, in general, to me are gross, especially on men, and it bewilders me when people wear flip flops through rain, sleet or hail.

So wearing flip flops is lazy, but you can rationalize wearing Uggs in hot weather. Women...

If anyone is repulsed by my wearing flip-flops, I probably wouldn't want you near me either.
