No. They have a more powerful machine, but you're going to pay for the service and knowledge.

 

I generally agree with the AutoZone comments, but I think the larger problem with AutoZone and places like it is that regular joes who don't know jack about cars go there thinking the employees will/ought to know everything.

Kinda like tech support: they'll only know so much and if you're an idiot who doesn't know the difference between a computer and a vacuum cleaner, you're not helping yourself out any and you're also automatically limiting what the tech support guy can do for you. You've got to have some basic knowledge when you're asking questions.

I've had good and bad experiences there just like nearly every place of business I've been to multiple times. I may rely on them to pull some codes, but I'm also smart enough to realize that, 9 times out of 10, doing so only MIGHT help narrow the problem down.

Like FT and R2K have indicated, it REALLY helps to have some basic knowledge about your vehicle.
