The 95 Rockets will never stop being the most influential sporting event in my childhood. But I think that when we take a step back and have time to realize the profound quality of games as they were being played...it's gonna go 1. 2017 Astros 2. 1995 Rockets 3. 1994 Rockets Arguably two of the top ten games ever played in the World Series happened just now. And we needed both of those to go our way; if not for two miraculous comebacks that you just NEVER SEE HAPPEN IN BASEBALL, we would have lost this World Series in Houston 4-1, sulking to ourselves that we lost to the best team in the majors this year (104 wins), and that we should appreciate that we popped our WS cherries with the first win in franchise history on the back of Lance McCullers. Instead, the impossible happened, and this team will be memorialized by ALL baseball fans for decades to come...even Marwin Gonzalez!
The whole playoffs I told my Houston friends that, knowing Houston sports, it's not gonna happen...but if it does, it'll be ****ing epic. Houston just knows no other way. We can't do anything easy. The world owes our city a debt of gratitude for some of the most nail-biting games in every sport ever played.
'17 Astros without a shadow of a doubt. The Rockets were the first sports team I fell in love with; I was a late bloomer, didn't get into sports in general till early High School, when I started following the Rockets hardcore and the NBA in general; The era was the Scola/Lowry/Kevin Martin era, which by now seems so long ago. Basketball will always be my "main" sport and the Rockets are my #1 team, as much as I've always and forever will support all Houston teams, including IF we get an NHL team here (make it happen Tilman!). That said, I was still months away when the Rockets won their first title and not even a year old when they won the second. The '15 Astros team that went to the playoffs was the first time I actually watched baseball more closely, and this '17 team is what made me truly appreciate the game much more than I ever thought I'd do before. I'm not even talking about the Harvey connection, which is amazing as well, but it was a wild roller coaster of emotions throughout the playoffs. Never thought another team would make me nearly completely forget about my beloved Rockets but how can you blame me? This is the first Houston team I've ever witnessed reach the top of the mountain, and between that final out of Game 7 of the World Series on the road and that fiery sea of orange of which I was a part of that engulfed Downtown Houston just yesterday celebrating our team and our city, the '17 Astros is something that I am never going to forget for the rest of my life.

Justin Verlander and Clyde Drexler have some interesting parallels - either exact or very close: Both lost in the championship round twice before winning the 3rd time in Houston. Both were traded within the season to their championship team. Both joined teams with an MVP (in Verlander's case, a soon-to-be MVP; in Drexler's, a reigning MVP) Verlander won his championship in his 13th season; Drexler won his championship in his 12th. Verlander was a 6-time All-Star before he joined the Astros; Drexler was a 7-time All Star before he joined the Rockets. Verlander's last manager before the trade was a former Astro (Brad Ausmus); Drexler's last coach before the trade was a former Rocket (Rick Adelman- and yes, he was a player on the Rockets)

Considering I was 3 and 4 when the Rockets won this World Series is by far the best championship and means the most to me. Im glad the Rockets won but I wasn’t really around to experience it... that 22 year drought was longggg... this is essentially my first experience with a major sports championship and im in my mid 20s
When I now sit back and think about it, I really do give the 1994 Rockets and 2017 Astros a tie. First in the franchise, etc. But nothing tops the 1995 Rockets. Probably nothing ever will. I don't think we'll ever see a seed that low go on to win a championship.
Me too. And I don't think this will ever be topped for me, baseball is and always was my first love. First real sports memory was watching Randy Johnson pitch in the dome in '98.
Rockets championship 1 and 2, nothing else close I'm happy for the astros, but it's maybe slightly above a Dynamo championship for me.
