I just saw the Incredible Hulk last night and thought it was a good movie. What about the Hulk movie from 2003 - have not seen anyone mention that. Is it worth seeing? I liked Thor and the Avengers. Didn't care too much for Iron Man. Have not seen the second part. Least favorite is Captain America. I fell asleep during that movie.
This thread made me realize that I pretty much like none of the Marvel movies, except I haven't seen The Avengers and I haven't seen The Incredible Hulk movies (who is incidentally one of my favorite superheroes). As a matter of fact, the recent Batman movies are the only ones I really enjoyed as far as superhero movies go in general. I wish some studio would go through with the Silver Surfer movie.
I don't understand the Captain America hate!! I thought it was one of the all around better Super hero movies ever made (not best, of course). I think they did great making it a marvel period piece that had good action, red skull did his thing, everyone held their own as a character/actor and I didn't feel like anything was bogged down with a romance storyline. One of the many reasons I loved Iron Man was because they injected a love interested without shoving it in our face. They kept focus on all of the right elements of the movie. Anywho: Avengers >> Iron Man >> Incredible Hulk = Captain America >> Thor >> Iron Man 2 Although I thoroughly enjoyed every single one.. To the poster curious about the Ang Lee Hulk? That movie just pissed me off lol It may be worth checking out to cure any curiosity, but it just hit all of the wrong notes for me. I didn't like the way they made Hulk physically, the acting came off as more corny or leaning towards Twin Peaks-type of acting imo (compared to other marvel movies). I disliked the villain, I disliked the build of the movie and I disliked the ending.. Only other major superhero movie let-down compared to that was Spider Man 3.
I'm going to expand things and go with all the major production Marvel Films: Nailed It Avengers Blade Spiderman Spiderman 2 X2 First Class Iron Man (on the bubble) Pretty Good X-Men Daredevil Blade 2 Captain America Incredible Hulk Iron Man 2 (on the bubble) Mixed Blade Trinity Ghost Rider Thor Barely Tolerable Elektra Punisher Fantastic Four X-Men Last Stand Wolverine (on the bubble) Trainwreck (Ang Lee) Hulk Punisher War Zone Spiderman 3 Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer I haven't seen the Ghost Rider sequel, so I'm not including that one. I recognize my Daredevil opinion is a lot higher than the majority...but I find it to be fairly rewatchable. IMO, it takes way too much flak as a by-product of the Ben Affleck Backlash Effect.
*FIXED I don't know where first class story arch was from but i have never heard or read about it .So my opinion was solely on characters that was not in the original team from the 60's which was a turn off
That isn't fixed. Despite the stupid changes that were made to the team; first class was the best xmen movie. Magneto ftw.
Everyone can have their own list, it's all up to the individual. I'm not mad that other folks hate Daredevil, or like Ang Lee, or anything else.
To be honest I didn't HATE Daredevil...and (I know I'm going to take flak on this one) I didn't despise Elektra either. I think Affleck did a pretty decent job as Murdock...despite that fight with Kingpin...ugh. I guess I just like seeing these characters on screen. I liked Ang Lee's Hulk, but I didn't like who they had him fighting, I didn't like the changes to his origin, and it was just a bit too slow. I thought Incredible Hulk was just a lot better. The fact that all of these lists vary so much is pretty interesting and cool to me. I think there's inherent bias towards ones' favorite characters obviously, but that's why these comics are so cool -- everyone has a favorite. I really don't understand all of the hate towards First Avenger or Incredible Hulk though. Especially First Avenger...I guess because his powers aren't as flashy as Iron Man / Thor / Hulk (short of some shield tosses).
Wow, first time I'm agreeing with SamFisher. Ang Lee's Hulk to me is a superior movie to that terrible cartoony The Incredible Hulk directed by a terrible director Louis Leterrier. Totally love his artistic Jekyll & Hyde take on HULK and it still holding up pretty well to this day. I can't believe idiots totally think the Hulk vs gamma(hulk)dogs is stupid. I thought that scene was brutal and brillaint. There are such so many layers to Ang Lee's Hulk and I love the seriousness take on it rather than just stupid mindless "HULK SMASH" all the time. <iframe width="853" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/msq5PtpqKIw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Iron Man 2 is currently available on NetFlix so it could be a contract issue for the current term. Maybe in the future..
Here's someone takes on how similar I felt to Ang Lee's Hulk that better explain of how I than I can ever put on paper. Sadly this movie is being misunderstood and so underrated. http://uroboros73.wordpress.com/tag/joss-whedon/
lol I don't even think those are your own thoughts, about the Ang Lee movie having "layers", I bet you read that and tried to justify your hatred for the movie. But with all that said, I liked the Ang Lee version way better. I'm not gonna try and make up **** about how it had layers though to prove my point.
