Aaron Brooks: 8-12 range Kevin Martin: 10-14 range Trevor Ariza: 7-11 range Luis Scola: 7-12 range Yao Ming: 1-4 range
You have to look at what they bring to the game defensively as well. Aaron is lagging behind defensively due to size, he is still top 9-12 but I think tyreke is better. I think evans has much more to show in 2-3 years as well. Brooks is a way better shooter but evans gets to the rack much easier and creates better looks for his teammates. Assists, Turnovers are about the same but the rebounding and steals go to evans. Tyreke > Brooks IMO
Brooks by himself = 8-12 range. Brooks + Lowry combo = top 5 It is similar to the Scola/Landry situation last year where neither were elite, but as a tandem, they were top 10ish.
Brooks/Lowry is the top PG combo in the league....find another combo thats better i tried last year couldnt think of one maybe Billups and Lawson but id still pick AB and Lowry
Brooks is a more diverse and efficient scorer than Tyreke, is that even debateable? And like others have said, Tyreke isn't a point guard. He's a ball dominant 2 guard. On a side note. Does anyone else think Rose is overrated? He's less effcient than Brooks offensively and averages HALF an assist more. Don't get me wrong, I'd take him over Brooks. But most people on here would laugh at the idea of comparing him to Brooks and have AB outside the top 10 when they are very close statistically. On the subject of assists. I'm looking forward to see what happens to his assist numbers once he has an entire season where 3 of the 4 fellow starters aren't offensively r****ded. Brooks stats post All-Star (ie games post trade) 20 pts 6 Assists. My rankings: AB: 9-12 KMart: 5-6 Ariza: 12-15 (if the way he played at end of year wasn't a fluke) Scola: 9-10 (same statement as above) Yao: 2 if healthy
I think Brooks' assists numbers has more to do with Adelman's system. Bibby averaged 8.4assists before being traded to the Kings where he then averaged 5-6 assists from then on. Next year, Brooks' scoring will dip but assists will go up. I project 17pts and 7 assists
Based on the amount of minutes each player in the tandem played, this is what I think the PER numbers support: Paul/Collison #1. Billups/Lawson#2. Nash/Dragic #3. Deron Williams/whichever scrub plays 10min behind him #4. Rondo/Robinson #5. Parker/Hill #6. Brooks/Lowry #7.
It's debatable because Tyreke is able to score off of post-ups as well as physically punish defenders in the paint for point-blank high percentage shots. That's why he shoots a better percentage from the field overall. And sure his long range shot isn't as good as Brooks', but he did hit a J at the buzzer to beat us
Brooks = top 6-10 Martin = top 4-8 Yao = top 2 Scola = 8-12 Ariza = * Ariza is a roleplayer so comparing him to other SFs isnt really an accurate comparison. He is probably in the 25-30 range in terms of complete players at the position, however if you rank him along with guys who play the utility role like Afflalo, Thabo, etc. he is probably in the top ten.
Brooks is not even close to a top 10 PG. Top 15-20 maybe. Brooks: 15-20 range Martin: Top 10 mainly due to lack of quality SGs Ariza: Top 20 range Scola: Top 10 Yao: The Best when heathly(**** Howard), otherwise top 3-5 due to Brook Lopez and Bogut.
There sure are a lot of good point guards at the moment. I would rank Brooks in the Jameer Nelson range, but below Westbrook. Outside of the top ten. Martin is a top ten scoring guard, but his defense is substandard. Around the 10 range. Ariza is a journeyman role player. In the lower third of starting small forwards. Scola is solid and a gamer. I would rank him just outside the top 10 PFs. Yao will be limited in minutes, but he would still be a top five center even at 25 minutes a game just because the position is so weak.
totally agree. Also, Evans has a MUCH stronger body than our weak ab. AB is definitely within top 15. But we all remember how he got raped in the defense end by D.williams.
