I couldn't see the game, but it looks as if Garner tried to keep Roy O in there one inning too long. He was already at 106 pitches when he came out for the 8th. Oh well, still a good game. Nice to see these great pitching performances are no longer going to waste. This team doesn't have to score a whole lot of runs, but they do have to score SOME to get the wins.

Roy O did a great job tonight. Anytime you can hold the Rangers offense (IMO the best in MLB) to 2 runs then you are doing a hell of a job.

he has some equals but there is no pitcher in the league better than roy when ausmus is back there. straight up nasty. mitch melusky could catch him and he'd be in the top 10 but it's really clear how well ausmus works with him.

i was surprised when he came out for the eighth but really the rangers never threatened him so it seemed safe, and ultimately it was anyways.

With Brandon Bake (aka Jekyll and Hyde) pitching at home, I like our chances today

    Home: 4-0 2.95 ERA, 12 BB, 28 K, .239 BAA
    Road: 2-5 6.94 ERA, 24 BB, 26 K, .304 BAA

I think tonight is going to be a key game ... If we can somehow pull out a win today, then we have Pettitte tomorrow and 6 games against cellar dwellars COL and CIN. We might just have a shot of making it back to .500 by the all star break, but that means keeping the confidence high so Backe needs to do his home magic tonight.

    Just a real quick question:

Since the difference between Ausmus catching RoyO and someone like Chamo catching Roy is significant (not night and day, but damn significant), how much longer do you think Ausmus should stay? Many have been touting that he should be gone after this season, but with the way he calls Roy's games, I don't think he'll be easily replaced by the likes of Quintero or Chamo. Anyone have any ideas? I think another season after this one should be good, and should give Roy more confidence...

Yeah, that's a hard question to answer. What Ausmus lacks in offensive skills, he more than makes up BEHIND the plate. He just seems to work perfectly with our pitchers, they call a great game together.

Backe Sucks. He needs to keep the ball low because he stuff is not good enough to leave up. I hope the Astros considering trying to get Kip Wells.

So much for Backe pitching better at home.

That at least 5 runs given up in the last three games.

Tough to win when you're in a big hole.

It something bad about playing a Saturday day game on Fox. Its seems like we get blown out everytime this season.
