Yeah, that's what I remember. We criticized him for gambling too much, for missing the rotation, etc. The impression I got his first time around was that he was long and quick and got lots of steals but did not have good defensive skills.

I think he is better than Parsons on defense but not sure if he is the defensive juggernaut some people make him to be.

lol what?? First play was basically hand in the face but the guy still got a good look. 2nd play he got picked off and it was Gortat there on the help. PLay after that he gets buy ariza and the guy just blows a lay up, i thought these were highlights?

Ariza not being a number 1 option offensively (a situation Parsons has not been in) will aid him in focusing more on playing defense to his fullest potential... but Ariza as a first option offensively still played better D than Parsons.

I honestly think Ariza is going to be better here than parsons. We aren't going to struggle much offensively and I believe Ariza will be a massive upgrade for us defensively.

It'll be much nicer having Dwight protecting the rim instead of Chuck Hayes

Coming right after winning a ring with the Lakers, Ariza did have an attitude problem here. Imo, it was that problem that got him shipped out of here. I always liked his game and Ariza will definitely improve our porous perimeter defense.

Morey is not finished yet, but Ariza is a good start. Now if we get Rondo, then all is forgiven.

Well the good news is he's coming back to an organization that strongly discourages gambling.

By December, clutch fans will be back on the moray bus... when they'll see how much better we will be on D all around.

ariza's job is to cover harden's @ss, as stated by Morey.
it seems that daryl does not expect harden to ever be an average defender.

We didn't have Kevin Martin yet, and Yao was out for the entire season. McGrady was out for the first couple months and played like ten games.

We thought we saw superstar potential in him after his strong performance in the finals the year earlier. Remember he was only like 23 or 24 at the time.

I'm a fan of what he can bring. It's the need on perimeter we've all been asking for. Opportune 3's and perimeter D. At 8M? I'll take it

I forgot how long his arms are and he moves through screens in a very fluid way instead of getting bumped off. Defense wins championships.

It is good to have one more good defensive guy to cover Harden's ass. Harden's max contract should share with Beverley, Ariza, and whoever covers his ****ty defense.

Weren't Ariza and Howard Orlando Magic teammates prior to Ariza joining the Lakers way back in the early and mid 2000s?

He is a "B+" type of defender. I watched him a lot the last few years. He has really calmed down on the court and decision making FAR better than when with Rockets. He physically can limit guys, which is what we need... And being out of place will not be an issue after watching Parsons and Lin play Where Is Carmen San Diego?".

What the heck does a "green light" on defense even mean? Be super aggressive?

Yes, he can play the passing lanes, go for steals... Switch, takes chances other players cannot because he is more successful than most.
