Unit was in the picure from the Onion article about the Yanks from last yr. http://www.ssur.org/articles/items/20030205_TheOnion.htm
I don't really know what to think of this deal. I'm really going to miss Vazquez. The Yanks gave up on him too soon. This Randy dude is so old. How long can he still dominate? I just hope he can give us just 2 good year when the Yanks extend him with a ridiculous amount of money. We better get Santana next off-season!
True Yankee fans like yourself know what it means, something that no other team has done before in blowing a 3-0 lead. Since it is 4:30 in the morning where I am and thus very early, I'll give you a further hint, Hydra - rhymes with joke. Oh, I'm sure that PaulM, PedroKsBambino, Smilin' Joe Hesketh, Rudy Pemberton, etc could come up with something. I would get in touch with Cat (since he can actually post there unlike myself ) and see if he could make it happen.
In this century (2000 was the last year of the 20th Century): # of championships for Red Sox - 1 # of championships for Yankees - big fat 0 Seriously, they can have all their championships. Nothing will ever change the fact that those assholes had a 3-0 lead and probably the greatest closer ever to close it out for them in Game 4 and they couldn't get it done that game nor the next one nor the game after that NOR the game after that one.
The Dodgers totally fell apart in the last week: -Thought they had Hudson but the Braves get him -Beltre to Seattle and LA thought they had him back -Now giving up Green and Brad Penny I heard on Espn that the owner of the Dodgeras spent most of his cash on purchasing the team so maybe he is just dumping salaries, but to make moeny you have to bring in revenues and without players will be tough to draw fans.
The Yankees finally go their man. If the deal goes through, RJ will get the run support that he couldnt get with the DBacks. For those of you saying he`s to old, I would take an older RJ over Vasquez anyday and twice on Sunday. The lefty is still dominate and with the proper run support could have given the Rocket a tougher battle for the Cy Young. The thing I like about the Yankees is that they get the players that they believe will help win a WS, the owner isnt concerned so much with the bottom line as putting a quality team on the field. I`m not saying it always works, but you have to give them credit for giving them the chance each and every year. The one thing I miss about the Yankess of old, is that you cannot identify alot of the players as "True Yankees", but they play within the rules that govern baseball and there always fun to watch.
Well, now they are saying this deal may not happen because Shawn Green wants to stay in Los Angeles, LOL.
Whoops Come on Castor - don't you know that people never read ALL the posts in threads? Just ask KingCheetah if you doubt me.
Watch the Big Unit suck this year as a Yankee and conversely watch Javier flourish in LA. I still hope miraculous this deal fall flat on it face.
Good deal for the Yanks, but I really think we have a chance at Beltran...He's our guy and he likes it here, we like it here...As much as GM's hate Boras, if I'm an athlete, I want him as my agent...
Fark is awesome: Randy Johnson traded to Yankees in three-way deal. Steinbrenner quoted saying "It finally took a three way for us to grasp the Big Unit, but now that we have Johnson, our holes are filled"
Well, I didn't think this merited its own thread but I will say that just read on ESPN and Boston Globe that the Red Sox just signed Matt Clement to a 3 year deal worth 25.5 million. We still need AJ Burnett but this helps a lot. Link:
i love listening to yankee and red sox fans. man, we've only signed 3 huge free agents to megacontracts so far, we really need to go pick up that 4th. and then what'll we do about the 3rd set up man position? we've only got 2 signed to 10 million dollar contracts. we're screwed!
