If the Rockets are going to do a trade, it needs to be for a PG - starter or backup. Watching the preseason games, it's scary to think what would happen if Rafer went down - right now, he's the only guy who seems to be able to run the offense efficiently.

I was kind of hoping the Sonics would look to unload Earl Watson, and while they were still in Seattle, I thought maybe an offer that included Brooks (due to his regional popularity as an Oregon player) would make that happen. But now that the Sonics are the Thunder and also unloaded Luke Ridnour over the summer, I don't see them being interested in Brooks (at least not until Westbrook proves himself a starting caliber PG).

Heinrich might be available, but we'd have to give up real talent (Battier and Scola would be my guess), and his salary could be a real albatross if his poor performance from last year continues.

I've heard Ramon Sessions' name mentioned, but I don't know enough about him as a player to gauge whether he'd be a good fit.

you sounds like a typical Head hater.

I don't think Morey has ever tried to trade Head and I think Head has a very trade friendly contract and a reliable NBA skill in shooting.

Right now, no team is willing to trade a good PG away, but when all star break comes, some teams with the bad records may want to rebuild, get young or free the money, that is the time to do something.

Barrera was a hoss. Can't believe i forgot about him. Someone needs to start a thread with his highlights so that it can get the attention of the BBS, and then the talk radio shows, and then, eventually, the Rockets.

Ok, lets make something clear...the opening post's trade suggestion is outrageous... if we give them Head AND Williams they'll give us back Ager...maybe

lets wait until the trade deadline to move Steve Francis and Luther Head. I want to make clear that I am a big SF3 fan, but it looks like his injury will keep him on the bench for most of the 1st half of the season, and when he comes back he's unlikely to contribute much as he won't be familiar with the offense and won't be there in terms of on court rhythm and form.

Steve Francis + Luther Head + DJ Strawberry

    for

    Earl Watson

I agree that another solid PG is needed more than any other position. However, there is not one to be had until this thread becomes the "Random Trade Thread, Spring 2009." Actually, I was hoping Strawberry could develop in that role, but that's a long shot.

So, excepting the PG spot, I think we need a player who can serve as PF/C. Scola can do that but we risk wearing him out by the end of the season. I am hoping we re-sign Deke, but we still need a backup center for insurance. Some will argue that Dorsey can do it, but, strong as he is, he is still only a 6-7 duplicate of Chuck Hayes. That is why I would like to acquire Sean Williams from the Nets without adding to our luxury tax dilemma.

cant access the trade machine here from work, so i dont know which specific player to use in a trade, but i wanna go for adam morrison.

larry brown says they need a 3rd string pg and a PF. they also said they had lots of wingmen. id say we trade ours (PG + PF) for adam morrison. we'd be set for SG/SF for the next few years.

Greatest need of the team: A PG!

From now on I think we only need to discuss PG trades:

heres a couple of realistic options:

    Kirk Hinrich
-- Chicago back court major log jam
Earl Watson -- OKC is majorly rebuilding
Marcus Banks -- If Mario Chalmers or Chris Quinn is able to step up as starter PG Banks is dispensible because of his bad contract, but he'd be great for us.

Steve Francis + Luther Head + Future 2nd Rounder

    for

    Marcus Banks
