Agreed…Fox would open up the whole offense. We have nobody that can break down the defense like he could off the dribble. Jalen would for sure benefit from him being on this team.
I don't want to move anyone to the bench. If we are to trade Green, it will be in the off-season when he occupies more cap and hopefully has decent value. Mostly, I still want to ride out the potential train for better or worse. I would really like to add an eighth man to the rotation that is a veteran 6th man scorer type. Not sure who that would be but neither Cam or Reed are quite there yet. I expect big things from those guys in the future but I am also trying to win a playoff series or so this year.
Agree. I used to do some work for DEN and they jettisoned him pretty quick. Believe it was attitude/character related.
I'm not gung ho on this trade either, but Fox can get buckets at the end of games and buckets to end runs. Is a better passer and plays better defense.
I wish the Rockets could get a Dyson Daniels or Cason Wallace (that's who i wanted in the draft if the Rockets didnt move up) or Jalen Suggs type player. The Rockets have an embarrassment of assets of young players to mold the team into what they want. It will be interesting to see what happens.
I realize we have a lot of good 3/4 type players, but shooting remains our biggest weakness. We know the Nets are having a fire sale. Is it even possible to add Cam Johnson to our rotation without undermining Amen, Dillon, Tari and Bari? Probably not, but I do think he’s the best available player/shooter on the trade market that fits our timeline and is on a reasonable contract. Part of me would like to see Bari more at the 5. Given his success at the end of last season playing a lot of 5, I wonder if they could give Bari the Adams/Landale minutes and open up some additional minutes at the 4 for one of our other players, or a guy like Cam Johnson.
Odd that you are looking at his career stats when it was vastly skewed by his younger years. Should be looking at it after he got paired with Sabonis because Alpi would be a similar in helping him get better looks. his ts% is 59 which is significantly higher than Jalen and above league average. Then you factor in his playmaking it's a significant upgrade
lol can we stop this nonsense? Yes, Powell has had a good season thus far. He’s also 31 and has dealt with various injuries his entire career. At Jalen’s age, he was averaging 5 ppg. Not to mention I don't think this works with Jalen's PPP.
Cam Johnson is a horrible defensive player. When he is on the floor the Nets are like 9 points worse on defense. We do need shooting, but he is not the answer.
I mean, Norman Powell is probably gonna be an all star this year. He’s an excellent shooter. I’ll give you that he’s older, and you’d only want to make a deal like this if you don’t believe Jalen is a positive asset with his contract, but I believe we’d be a contender with Powell at the 2. He also plays defense. he’s probably better suited as a final piece for a win-now team, but the Clips are going down and I wouldn’t be surprised if they make some of their guys available.
I'm not opposed to trying to acquire Powell if the Clippers decided to break up their team. That said, when I think of Powell, playing defense is not one of them. I like his shooting, though.
The thing is if you want a two way player who can shoot and is not walking away in a year, then it's going to cost at least one FRP and I don't think anyone wants to give up picks for a depth piece. Cam Johnson like Bridges I think was a better defender before the Nets gave up. He was even seen as a decent defender before he signed his deal. I think we could do a lot worse. If we can get him without giving up a pick, I'd consider it.
But every player these days is costing way too many picks. Stone Corleone: "Now, your guy is a very good player but borderline All Star, at best. I've offered two first round picks....."
I'd definitiely take him if the price is right. I don't think there is anyway you get him without giving up a FRP.
Haha Yeah that's why I've been thinking we should probably be realistic and look at a couple of exceptional additions to the bench rather than coughing up picks.
