I propose this trade in the off-season for Booker because Giannis is just a bad fit and Spurs/OKC can outbid us there. Suns gets 25', 27' picks and 26', 29' pick swaps back. They get Bub Carrington and Cam Whitmore both guys who are promising and just need minutes. They also get Suns fan favorite Jock Landale back and Marcus is there for salary dump. Suns do this so they can actually rebuild the next 4 years, they can also move KD to another team for more assets. This is the perfect time for them to rebuild. Rockets may have to give them 27' BKN swap as well. Washington gets Jalen Green and Reed Sheppard, who fits better in their timeline with their young core. Also they've been looking for a PG, Reed has the much higher upside if given minutes. They can also move Jordan Poole to another team for picks while they have Jalen Green, who is younger. They also get the Dallas 29' swap from us as a bonus incentive. They do this because their swaps with Suns aren't that valuable since they are also a mediocre team right now. Rockets get Booker, 28yo offensive all-nba level star at the peak of his prime, turning 29 this year in October. Great fit next to Amen, Sengun, Tari and Bari. We still own our own picks, which we can use to add more bench depth. We hope Amen and Sengun can take the next step so we can compete with OKC in the West.
I was thinking about that as well but after looking at Wiz fans socials, they seem pretty mild on Bub. They were extremely high on Reed and their front office rumored to be debating picking Reed #2. I think Reed has a much higher upside than Bub if given the minutes. Their swaps with Suns are basically meaningless as well because they are a worse team than the Suns. They're also getting Jalen in the trade.. Also, Jalen still has that upside to improve while the league pretty already knows what Jordan Poole is as a player (won too early and got paid, so became lazy). They also get a future pick swap from DAL, who potentially could be terrible in a couple years with just Flagg and injury prone AD and Kyrie. The biggest problem I see with this trade is not from Wizards, but rather the Suns because their owner is stubborn and might refuse to admit his mistakes (trading for KD and Beal). Booker also has not asked to be traded, which is another issue. I think he's fine with staying in PHX and never winning anything for the rest of his career (which can also be a sign of concern for us as to his drive). We're going to need players/coaches to convince Booker to come play for us in the off-season for this trade to happen (tampering?). Harden did it with CP3, surely someone in our current franchise can do the same.
I could see a smaller trade like Royce O'Neill for Tate or a 2nd rounder. They gave away Avdija though, that might make them eager to trade young players or it could prevent them from doing so because they made a mistake with Avdija. The way I see with Sheppard is that the Wizards are in position to draft a few Top 5 picks in the next years.
I think that Jalen, Reed, Cam, and 2 picks is enough to pry loose Devin Booker. Maybe throw some 2nds in there as well.
Modification to the Malik Monk trade I posted a few days ago… HOU IN: Monk & #32 SAC IN: Porzingis, #10 & #28 BOS IN: Jock, Holiday, Williams, Carter FVV/Reed Green/Monk Amen/Brooks/Cam Bari/Tari Sengun/Adams I like Monk for a number of reasons. He’s similar to Jalen and gives the Rockets a solid scorer off of the bench who has been in high leverage games. He could also replace Jalen in the starting lineup if Jalen needs to be included in a bigger trade. Boston cuts $10m in salary for just the #28 and #32 picks. Sacramento gains 2 first round picks in a draft where they had none.
no way the suns do this, even if they were willing to trade Booker. they will demand all their picks back including #10 this year. Booker isnt worth that, but the suns consider him a superstar.
this is correct. the Suns GM and owner are idiots. They need a full rebuild but they are adament they are not trading booker and he is their only asset that could give enough in return for a kickstart to a rebuild
Brooks and #10 for Cam Johnson and #28 Green, Sheppard, Eason, and two RFPs for Jaylen Brown Let FVV walk, extend Bari. Amen / Brown / Johnson / Bari / Sengun
Rockets Trade Jalen Green Jabari Smith Jr #10 Pick Future PHX 1st Sacramento Trades Domantas Sabonis Malik Monk 2025 / 2026 PG - FVV / Sheppard SG - Monk / Holiday SF - Thompson / Brooks PF - Sengun / Eason ..C - Sabonis / Adams Sabonis can spread the floor hitting the 3 along with all the other skills you want in a big center. Monk brings more efficient scoring to balance out the offense. Sacramento needs to retool and don't have a draft pick this year. This gets them a top 10 pick plus a young rising big as well as a future top pick from PHX. Saving $10 million going from Sabonis to Green and $6 million from Monk to Smith.
One of the more reasonable trade ideas, although I think you may get a better fit for Brooks and #10 than Cam Johnson. People don’t realize it, but Dillon shot a better 3p% than Cam Johnson last year, so not sure how much you’ve gained from giving up that #10 pick, unless Dillon regresses back to his career %. Cam is a little better at the other offensive categories than Brooks, but probably not enough to make up for the defensive drop-off. I’d be a little nervous of the Brown contract as I think super max contracts should be reserved for superstars, but we would unquestionably be a much better team.
Sengun is not a PF except in the rare occasions where it makes since to go twin towers. Our defense would be atrocious.
You're right. Did more research on Sabonis and he's not a good defender. I've been thinking he was all this time.
