I still think Ja is by far the most likely Grizzlies player to be moved. They’ll try to retool around JJJ, Bane, and their young guys. Any interest in Ja? If so, what would you give up for Ja?
it's going to be a wild summer. Jokic, Giannis, Trae, Morant, Zion all could move teams by October. That's insane.
Rockets out: FVV+Reed+ future 1st Atlanta out: Trae+Georges Niang Rockets out: Jabari GSW out: Moses Moody Atlanta gets a first and a possible Trae replacement. They have the option of extending FVV and continuing to retool, or reap the windfall of his expiring contract. The Rockets are using Jabari as though he were Niang, so rather than extending him at $25M per, why not get the real thing at a third of the price? GSW needs some length, so swap Jabari for Moody and get a decent defensive backcourt running mate for Trae who doesn’t need the volume, but can still shoot.
Sengun is an easy offer but you don't trade a player like Amen Thompson. He's too rare, too valuable. Guys like that change the way a team thinks about its future. Start with Alperen and several draft picks.
The Bucks would do this is a second. No team would come close to this package. Rockets would regret this one
This exactly. Amen Thompson has to be untouchable. But moving from Sengun to Giannis? That’s a different conversation, a franchise-altering leap. You frame it as a 23-year-old All-Star, throw in some picks, and hope the Bucks are willing to listen.
Trading Sengun, some filler players, and picks for Giannis could work if we’re not set on building around Sengun. If we’re not all-in on Sengun, keeping him on the roster feels like a waste, since we won’t get much value from his contract down the line. That said, as great as Giannis is, I’m not convinced he fully fixes our team’s offensive struggles. For me, there’s nothing like winning a championship with homegrown talent. But at some point, we’ve got to figure out the direction this team is headed.
Trading for Giannis is a conundrum - because when a Top-3 player becomes available and your team is full of young talent and lacks a #1, it seems like a no-brainer. But our team's shooting/spacing has been awful, and our one untouchable asset, Amen, can't shoot at all. If we somehow kept Thompson in a trade, we'd be forced to build around Giannis/Amen, which might be amazing physically/athletically/defensively (until Giannis declines), but we'd need 3 dead-eye shooters to surround them, which we don't currently have. The other option is moving Amen (and not having to trade as much to Milwaukee, because his trade value is so high), and then we'd have to build around Sengun/Giannis as our frontcourt. This isn't as bad in theory, but Sengun would have to become a semi-consistent 3-point threat, which may never happen. I just feel like there are better fits for us, a team that's maybe one legit piece away from contending. Giannis might be the best talent on the market, but I don't think that we have to throw all our chips on the table.
I would prefer trading green for giannis and filller/picks then try and get Ty Jerome and/or Luke kennard If Sengun the only way that still makes sense Giannis is a solid passer and would command gravity that would help green but we still need to upgrade pg with a shooter to make that work
It would cost likely be Sengun + other stuff for Giannis. Rockets would need a center that can space.
Whut? Are you watching the same playoff series that I am? Dude is 6'7 and can't shoot. I don't see him locking anyone up either. I'm not saying he has no value, but he's a huge question mark right now. To me he looks like tall Russell Westbrook, which is not nothing, but shouldn't be consider untouchable either.
Well, the thing is, I don’t base my opinion about the potential career of a 22 yr old based on his first three playoff games. Want to say we should looking at a trade of Sengun for Giannis? I’ll listen. Amen for Giannis? I certainly wouldn’t do it, but I don’t think it’s a crazy thought. Sengun AND Amen for Giannis? That’s absurd.
Conceptually, I do think a Sengun and picks for Giannis trade makes some sense. Amen and Giannis would wreck shop defensively, and I could see Green thriving in a secondary scorer role with Giannis getting so much attention. For the Bucks, they get a young All Start player, which they would desperately need in any trade since they don't control their picks until 2031. Here's my question -- what do you do about center? Do you insist on keeping Bari and starting him to better stretch the floor?
Ame Amen showed significant offensive progress until the playoffs where nerves have got the best of him and is facing a coach that has decided to make Ime focus on FVV/Sengun centric offense. Trading Amen is a non-starter as his shot will continue to improve, due to work ethic and superior bbiq. The easiest answer is to replace FVV and Jalen with guys that can actually shoot consistently. I think Trae and Naz, John Collins, or JJJ would be ideal but difficult to pull off. Amen can make up for Trae’s defensive liability and another big man that can shoot would move Jabari to SF. Sengun should spend the entire off-season shooting from the top of the key.
Sorry I've been watching him for 2 years now. Also, I suspect he's probably been working with several professional shooting coaches ever since high school. His shot may improve a bit in the future, but I doubt there's a significant leap coming. Aren't you tired of watching the Warriors bomb us from the 3 point line while Amen drives into traffic for janky layups? It's like being hit with haymakers and fighting back with slaps. Amen is a gadget player at best.
The NBA didn’t engineer the trade to LA to see him bale. Doncic will be a life-long Laker. Giannis is the only superstar that MIGHT become available and it will cost us Sengun and 5 picks. I think we can use Jalen, Reed, and Cam and those 5 picks to add 2 youngish all-stars or near all-stars.
